Hi partiers!! Big thanks to James F, Jason S & Katy M for supporting the show -- WFMU hit its GOAL today and I couldn't be happier!

Yes! It elicited an immense sigh of relief. Proud to have gotten on the Swag for Life train and to have contributed to FMA last month!

David D:

This is great, Cheyenne - I will have to scour the FMA for classical music now as well.

Cheyenne:

Yes! Thanks for the support, James! Did you hear Matt W & Clay this morning singing their way to the goal? Worth a listen if you missed it! :)

@David D - thank you for tuning in! You can find LOTS of classical music on FMA: freemusicarchive.org...

My favorite curator is the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum, and they have zillions of tracks on their website, beyond the 100+ tracks you'll find on FMA. www.gardnermuseum.org...

Hi Cheyenne. With so much classical music to choose from, it's an immense help that you pick out the choicest listens.
Avatar 3:19pm
Cheyenne:

@Stanley - honestly, there's too much music to listen to and choose from the entire collection. I choose the best out of what I do listen to when putting together my programs. The wonderful/tragic thing about doing an hour-long show is that there is always so much more than what I can bring to your ears each week!

Haven't heard 'classical' classical outside of Bethany and the occasional Kurt venture. Thanks Cheyenne. Looks like Listening Out There beat me to the punch.

Clay and Matt singing this morning was great. An exciting moment.

@northguineahills - it's an oft-overlooked genre around this here patch of radio-land. Doesn't mean it doesn't deserve some airtime!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
Stanley:

@Cheyenne, I will definitely dip into the FMA classical section. Does it differentiate between 'classical' and modern 'classical' (1.e. 20/21 century)? I love modern compositions
Avatar 3:39pm
Cheyenne:

Yes, there are subgenres aplenty in the classical section, though often at the uploader's discretion - either Curator or Artist.

Sem Chumbo:

For a lot of years, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation dedicated one of it's national services, Radio Two, to classical music in all of it's forms.
That stuff kinda grew on me, wonderful to have these resource close to hand:-D

northguineahills:

Yeah, this is much better then NPR's classical selection. Both the engineering, production, recording, and execution.

this is a welcome change and very soothing and sprightly! Thanks for the classics, Cheyenne!
Avatar 3:52pm
Cheyenne:

@Sem Chumbo - it's very easy to listen to and let wash over you, one of the reasons why I think it has lasted as a popular style for so long! I tried to bring mostly recordings of real instruments to this show but many of the artists on FMA also use synths.
Avatar 3:53pm
northguineahills:

Odd that Saint-Saens was mostly ignored in his native France but celebrated in Great Britain.
