Black squirrels were introduced to the Bronx by a Bronx Zoo scientist.

The weird, clinically-depressed X-tian puppet I grew up with in Indiana, usually interspersed with cautionary tales that inevariably concluded with the lead, recently deceased sinner falling down a park slide to hell.

I read on wikipedia, cause I was so excited about black squirrels, that they keep warmer in the winter and are in general, healthier.

Black squirrels have spread by mating with grey squirrels and the coloration comes through as a genetic trait, like eye color.

Time For Timothy really made Channel Zero: Candle Cove (SyFy channel horror anthology show with a show within the show that only kids could perceive) seem very familiar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Not just any cemetery, The Sleepy Hollow Cemetery!
Avatar 7:26pm
kimzilla:

Chuck, we had to edit out a section of audio about Melissa, who does tours telling ghost hunters that they can't use their equipment on new grave sites.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

We don't tell "ghost stories". We tell history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Ghost hunters are not cool on tours.
Avatar 7:28pm
Chucks Paranormal:

Wow but yeah that makes sense. I won't go near New sections just because I don't want a family member showing up and getting offended. Somebody who passed 100 years ago not worried about that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Melissa is a wonderful guide.
Avatar 7:30pm
kimzilla:

@Chuck, yeah, you mentioned that to us about not going to new sites. The old ghosts are cooler anyway.
  7:31pm
Marc15:

I know a lot of people who I can call a Stick Puppet Swamp Witch ... But, I will be nice
Avatar 7:32pm
Chucks Paranormal:

Yeah if the tour is a history tour, it should be respected as such. After the first time the tour guide defers on ghost stories that should be the end of it.
Avatar 7:33pm
kimzilla:

I think we all should have a homework assignment to call someone a Stick Puppet Swamp Witch at least once this week. Let us know how it goes.
Avatar 7:33pm
Chucks Paranormal:

I know a few people at work I can call that lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

It's hard to avoid the subject of ghosts when you're talking about Washington Irving though. The oldest graves are in the Old Dutch Churchyard next to the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where Irving heard about the Hessian soldier and Hulda the Witch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Melissa's shadow puppet show about young Irving was beautiful.
Avatar 7:36pm
Chucks Paranormal:

True...
  7:36pm
Emily:

I haven't made it up to Sleepy Hollow for a tour yet--I want to, though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

We have tours till the end of November
  7:38pm
Emily:

Cool!
  7:39pm
Marc15:

Well Kim, I can call the current lieutenant governor of New Jersey a Stick Puppet swamp Witch, but I don’t think she reads your comments board
Avatar 7:39pm
kimzilla:

Who is the evil puppeteer in Pinocchio??
Avatar 7:39pm
Chucks Paranormal:

@Karen, so out of curiosity, if I decided to come up to Sleepy Hollow is it okay to investigate during the day in the older sections or is that frowned upon? I'm a discreet type of Investigator,. Not the loud boisterous type lol.
Avatar 7:40pm
Will from Seattle:

or the devil doll. a british horror film about a ventriloquist dummy comes to life & kills his puppeteer
  7:40pm
Emily:

It IS Stromboli! He's the evil puppeteer. The whale is Monstro.
  7:41pm
Emily:

We can vouch for Chuck. He's quiet!
Avatar 7:42pm
Will from Seattle:

theater was also outlawed during Cromwell's reign because puritans considered it sinful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Be discreet. There are always family members visiting someone. Even in the churchyard burials span over 300 years within just 3 acres.
Avatar 7:42pm
Chucks Paranormal:

Ah ok, thanks that's good to know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
ultradamno:

Talking of puppetry for adults reminded me of Todd Haynes' Superstar. The effectively banned short telling the Karen Carpenter story with Barbie dolls
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

You can only visit from 8am to 4:30 every day.
Avatar 7:43pm
kimzilla:

All I know is I want a stromboli right now.
  7:43pm
Emily:

Dude, I know--I'm STARVING
Avatar 7:43pm
Chucks Paranormal:

This now reminds me of the Twilight Zone where the Dummy got his ventriloquist to steal and Rob stores for money. The Dummy was the Mastermind.
  7:44pm
Emily:

@Chuck that episode is so scary!! That TERRIFIED me as a kid.
Avatar 7:44pm
Chucks Paranormal:

@Karen, yeah I think I remember seeing those hours on the website. Thanks!
Avatar 7:46pm
Will from Seattle:

the main subject of traditional Indonesian puppetry is religious stories from hindu, muslim, & Buddhist legends
Avatar 7:47pm
Chucks Paranormal:

Hi lol
  7:47pm
Marc15:

I posted the question on my Twitter
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
ultradamno:

On the killer puppet trope, similar to the aforementioned Channel Zero: Candle Cove, I recommend the Angel episode "Smile Time" also with demons in puppet form preying on children.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
melinda:

@ultradamno I remember that. It was the first film I saw at college.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
melinda:

Superstar, that is.

Hi Kimz and Emily In 1976 I spent 4 weeks in Arlington.VT. -Bread and Puppet gave a performance in a beautiful open meadow with mountains as backdrop. I have a bonch o b&w photos and negs to this day. If Melissa is interested in viewing them please have her contact me at this email.Thank you-
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm

I first saw it in the eighties at a friend's house in Cinti on a highly degraded VHS, which really completed the effect.
