When I think of Sri Chinmoy, I think of vegetarian breakfast sausage. Pretty good, actually.

SriChinmoy - has had no less Guitarists than JohnMcLaughlin & CarlosSantana among his devotees. So...what has been nefarious about him?

We must put a stop to this organ!

Was there a Manson show after the death?

Well, for a monster, he's not without gratitude. Even though he does sound slightly sarcastic about it.
Avatar 6:32pm
Fox:

This is not at all what I thought his music would sound like.
Avatar 6:33pm
franny:

I can share a Manson story from a friend who met him. He got up on a chair to sit so they were equal height. My friend basically said "I just wanted to meet you." and Charlie basically said "We can be friends, but I can have you killed if you mess with me." Wasn't really a surprising story.

Fox, this is not what I thought any music would sound like

...as w/ Prez Drumpf - sarkiness is probably all part of his appeal to his base & the strategy of distraction...
Thx always Charlie for How Not to Be a Scorpio...
Avatar 6:38pm
βrian:

It's over? Thank you for that!
Avatar 6:38pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

But - say this about Charlie:
He was older than the Hippies, actually
- & the product of messed up step-fathers & the prison-industrial complex - where he spent most of his youth. See: He was THEIRS - not the counter-culture's...
Avatar 💆 Swag For Life Member 6:38pm
ultradamno:

Brevity not one his virtues, if he had any. Clearly.
Avatar 6:40pm
βrian:

Aye, that, RRabbit.
Avatar 6:41pm
franny:

@ Revolution Rabbit - yeah this is true. I read a lot of crime biographies in my youth and will say I'm not aware of any serial killers raised on an ashram or in a wholesome farm atmosphere. All had connections to poverty-ridden, ex-con families, prostitute mother etc....not a good time.
Avatar 6:43pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- cause Charlie is always held up as the Dark Side of the Hippies - I mean - it was a very big Cultural deal - even as, as Julian Cope pointed out - Kissinger was committing mass war crimes...

...by today's standard - the Family's murders wouldn't even be a remarkable BurgerKing slaughter...

You start out growing jerusalem artichokes in well composted goat manure, and before you know it, you're a cult murderer!
Avatar 6:46pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

JimMorrison was right about Murica & Guns...
Avatar 6:51pm
franny:

unfortunately the media will always provide a very bold half-truth like that, especially Charlie as 'shadow side hippy' At this point in history I feel as if it is done intentionally. We're not supposed to care about Kissinger or war crimes....woot. It's gettin' political over here! Gonna need some mind-control music......where can I find that....
Avatar 6:51pm
Carmichael:

There's a funny story about Kissinger calling SNL to get some free tickets for his son. Being the holidays, few people were around. Al Franken answered the phone and gave him an earful about the carpet bombing of Cambodia.
