I remember an interview with Diamanda Galas where she claimed in a previous life she was an Army wife in Texas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
melinda:

@ultradamno I love that.
  7:12pm
Philip:

Not everyone thinks they reincarnated from someone famous. A friend of mine thinks he reincarnated from a rat living in the sewers of Paris. (So then the question would be, "Why not a sewer in Cincinnait? Why the glamorous city of Paris?")
  7:13pm
Emily:

@Phillp ha! Indeed...
  7:13pm
Emily:

Hi everyone! Good to see you.

I think I was a dog at one point.

Still from Eastern Europe lineage but a dog that lived in the woods and hung out with kids.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Does it also work in the other direction? "When I die, I'm coming back as ___." Do you have any control of what becomes of your self when you pass on?
  7:19pm
JakeGould:

When I get reincarnated, I hope to be a black bear in the forest.
  7:19pm
Emily:

@Ken from HP ooooh that’s a good question...what would you all want to come back as? Discuss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
chris:

hi there, Emily and kimzilla and folks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
melinda:

I am skeptical to be honest. Though if people come away from the therapy feeling better that's a good thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
chris:

the scientist part of me says that past life regression is helpful because it allows the patient to imagine their problems being dealt with by another person. looping it back to be a "previous" life, then, allows the subject to integrate their own advice back into their own life.
Avatar 7:22pm
Kamp Climax:

I love this because it describes a belief system that gives people joy. It's not my belief system, but anything that gives joy without causing harm or hurt to others is good.

Avatar 7:25pm
kimzilla:

@Melinda- I am right there with you. As nice of an idea as this is, I just kinda have the idea that when you are dead your dead. If there is energy or whatever its not a tangible 'org" that can be transferred to another born entity. But its a much more fun idea then heaven and hell for sure!
  7:25pm
Emily:

@chris I think that’s what I came away from it thinking as well. Although I’m open to almost anything being true...
Avatar 7:26pm
kimzilla:

@Dale, do turtles nap?
  7:26pm
Emily:

@queems hahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm
queems:

i want to get a discussion going between the ghost person, the alien person, and the reincarnation person
Avatar 7:26pm
Kamp Climax:

I want to hang with Queems. Life would be so much fun and risky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
melinda:

@chris that's an interesting explanation. It does seem like the remembering, even if it is actually imagining, serves a purpose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
melinda:

queems yes!
  7:27pm
Emily:

@queems that’s a GREAT idea!! I love the idea of having round table discussions with groups of our past guests...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
chris:

um....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
dale:

emily, raquel welch was in 20,000 b.c. - that was a documentary!
  7:28pm
JakeGould:

The “Twilight Zone” movie from 1983 has a great segment called “Time Out.” It’s known as the segment where Vic Morrow died, but the whole concept is brilliant: A racist in a bar is transported to different parts of time where he is “inhabiting” the bodies of a black man, a Jewish man in World War II France and a Vietnamese guy being shot at by Americans during the Vietnam war.

Maybe it’s not regression, but a great cinematic way of someone expeirencing the lives of others to process their own bullshit.
  7:28pm
Kate:

@Emily great minds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
ultradamno:

Amoeba, the minimalism of it seems like it would be serene.
  7:28pm
Eric Hat:

He was probably remembering his life as a dinosaur...not as a human amongst dinosaurs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
melinda:

I wonder why the doctors or therapists doing the hypnosis assume it is a remembering rather than an imagining.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
queems:

i wonder what kind of dinosaur he was
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
dale:

kimzilla - if a turtle falls asleep and something jars it awake, that's a nap.
  7:29pm
Emily:

@Eric I dunno...she said a human...maybe she misunderstood.
  7:29pm
Philip:

Yeah. I rode a T-Rex. If the point is not to tap into the "actual past life," then this is all imaginary. Translation: Bullshit.
Avatar 7:30pm
Number Six:

I was Vinz Clortho the Keymaster in a past life.
Avatar 7:31pm
kimzilla:

I am the Gate Keeper Number Six!
  7:31pm
Emily:

@ultradamno hmm...that’s an interesting one...similar to Ken from HP’s mayfly—I wonder how your perspective would change. Fascinating thought exercise.
Avatar 7:31pm
Kamp Climax:

The problem is I'm always thinking that I'm living a past life in the present.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm
dale:

everyone has their own other world/religious realties. if it doesn't hurt me i don't care. (unfortunately they tend to govern us)
  7:32pm
JakeGould:

@melinda: Good question. If someone thinks they are someone else in the conscious world, they are “psycho” but past life regression is real?

I am not dismissing the therapy, but am not 100% onboard of it being any much different than a dream. A very good and specific dream, but still a dream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
melinda:

Vinz Clortho, haha! I always thought it was Vince.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
ultradamno:

Or maybe an autoluminescent fish that lives at such an extreme depth that their appearance is conjectural.
  7:33pm
Emily:

@dale that’s how I feel, too. I don’t have to believe it, but if it’s helping someone—really, actually helping them to live a better life and be better to others and be happier...I think that’s great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
queems:

i'm stuck on the idea of living inanimate objects
Avatar 7:34pm
kimzilla:

I would agree with Jake, that this is more about how you are translating your own confabulation in order to repair your current self, rather than what is actually a real regression.
  7:34pm
Emily:

@Marc15 I almost missed that—a big band leader, I love it! Why, if I may ask?
  7:34pm
Emily:

@queems yesssss...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
queems:

i remember several years ago hearing about some artist who was exploring the idea of the life of inanimate objects and as an object lover i was very intrigued
Avatar 7:35pm
Number Six:

@kimzilla: Hear anything from Gozer lately? She's not on FB. Ahh, good times! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
queems:

i can't remember anything about it now though, go fig
  7:36pm
Emily:

@Kate you were right about Brian Weiss! She met him & he was the guy that got her into this
  7:37pm
Emily:

@queems there is a very very interesting ‘Love & Radio’ episode about a guy who is in love with dolls. It’s a little different, though.
Avatar 7:38pm
kimzilla:

@Number Six, wait, who's Gozer?
  7:40pm
JakeGould:

@queems: Well, you know how the Japanese respect objects a lot? And the KonMari method that tells you if an object does not bring you joy you should just get rid of it?

I don’t believe objects have “souls” but I do think if you hold on and hoard things waiting for the magic day something you never use will suddenly be useful, your brain wastes energy on that.

So to me, objects can drain you as well as bring joy. Use them for what they are worth and then toss them or donate them when you don’t need them anymore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
queems:

oh man dolls scare me so much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
melinda:

@Emily is that the one about the sex doll? That was an eye opener.
Avatar 7:42pm
Number Six:

@kimzilla: Gozer the Gozarian, the big bad from the 1st Ghostbusters. Vinz & Zuul were the 2 demon dogs.
Avatar 7:42pm
Kamp Climax:

Queems, is the same true for masks?
Avatar 7:42pm
kimzilla:

Me too Queems! I posted a great doll pic today on social media. why do they eye lids die at different times!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
queems:

@jake i'm an object maker so objects are very important to me. i'm also a collector cough hoarder so that part is harder to swallow, but you are definitely right
Avatar 7:43pm
Kamp Climax:

Because dolls, masks, and clowns all do it for me. They seem all part of the same fear.
  7:43pm
JakeGould:

@queems: Well, I make objects as well… But I think of them as “kids” in a non-literal way: I put passion into it, do my best and then donate or sell them for money and then move on.
  7:44pm
JakeGould:

I wonder how hypnosis and acid therapy would mix. Think about it.
  7:44pm
JakeGould:

If you make art and don’t share it then why?
  7:45pm
Becky:

Hey, can you guys let me in? :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
queems:

@jake i think of mine as kids in the way that i put my entire self into them and then have separation anxiety when it's time for them to go and then i blame them for things in my old age
Avatar 7:46pm
Kamp Climax:

There are too many artists who could give a great answer about keeping the art to themselves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
queems:

@kamp climax i'm kind of creeped out by masks too but not as much as dolls. it's the dead eye space
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
queems:

of course it's montclair
  7:48pm
JakeGould:

Well, one major thing every artist should strive for is the ability to enjoy what they create and how they create it and not the final thing.

If you can draw, sing, sculpt and all that? If you sell a thing, you should be able to sell it… But still be able to buy a lump of clay and mold it into a new cool thing.

I really like process art and think people like Sol Lewitt are geniuses: Sell the instructions and declare the final product to be an artifact.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
melinda:

I wonder if it is necessary to maintain the illusion that it is literal rather than metaphorical in order for it to have benefit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
ultradamno:

Many times, half awake, I have implicitly believed things were true of my life that I have been relieved to learn weren't true upon fully awakening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
melinda:

ultradamno same here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm

That could be a marathon prize. A pledger wins a trip to the analyzer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
chris:

if you're a "control freak," you're probably not a good candidate for hypnosis at all, though.
Avatar 7:51pm
Kamp Climax:

Holy crap, did you all hear that! Kimzilla is going to give out Emily's secrets.
Avatar 7:51pm
Number Six:

@queems: I had a Teddy Ruxpin in the '80s. I loved it when the batteries would run down. The voice would get slower, lower (kind of demonic). Then it would "die" with one eye open & the other half closed. It was hilarious!
  7:52pm
JakeGould:

The marathon premium should be the audio of the session unedited. JUST KIDDING!!!
Avatar 7:52pm
Kamp Climax:

Kimzilla, can I hand with you an hour after Emily's session.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Former school marm, I'm thinking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm

@number six i also had a teddy ruxpin! i was terrified of it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm

I wouldn't do hypnosis.
  7:52pm
JakeGould:

@KenfromHydePark: Ms. Crabtree?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
queems:

furbies used to do the same thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jake - Yeah ... like that.
  7:54pm
JakeGould:

Ms. Crabtree is pretty awesome! Her and the Grandma in “The Little Rascals” are great character.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
queems:

i'm a control freak for sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
queems:

which is why i don't want to share my objects
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
queems:

also i'm just mean
Avatar 7:55pm
Number Six:

Furbies were even better! They would just wake up in the middle of the night and start making noises. It was like something from Gremlins.
  7:56pm

i think i would go as far as about halfway back
Avatar 7:56pm
Kamp Climax:

Emily will learn she was a Super Bowl MVP in the 60's for the Green Bay Packers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Control freak test: ask your subject if you can borrow their phone from them and measure how long until he/she demands it back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
queems:

you win the game if your subject says "no" outright
  7:57pm

@Ken from HP like, half a second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm

i'm going to this movie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm

thanks guys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm

I wouldn't get hypnotized because seventies television taught me it's all about implanting a word in your subconscious that makes you act like a chicken.
Avatar 7:58pm

Yay! I can't wait to meet you Queems, and everyone else that can make it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm

@ultradamno: Your are the Manchurian Candidate… Or maybe the guy in Telefon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

The movie Office Space had a good hypnosis scene.
  7:59pm
JakeGould:

I hope the movie as that scene where the mascots get out of a van and beat up a driver. That is the best video!
