OK I switched up my rig here. More comfy, easier to chat, decode Stanley, properly welcome you all, and wrangle metadata.

Scraps:

Damn! I saw Murray several times, like over two dozen, both with the Henry Threadgill Sextett (Threadgill is my favorite living composer) and with Hopkins. She’s awesome.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
fred:

Greetings, Scraps. I hope you can make it Mayuko's playlist this week; you've been missed
Avatar 3:22pm
Scraps:

Hopkins and Murray as double-bassist and cellist are spooky when alone, too. So bad that Hopkins is dead, way too soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
david w:

This duet that comes in around 22:00 is heartbreaking.
Avatar 3:27pm
Scraps:

Ooh, Air!

Fred, I’ve been listening, especially Mayuko, just not posting. Complicated, but mostly I’ve been in too much pain to sit up and talk. ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
david w:

Are we talking flu? This thing has upset my world totally, even tho I did not get it. But everybody around...
Avatar 3:31pm

I need to do an mashup of Air and Air (french band). Not sure what that would entail....
Avatar 3:31pm
Scraps:

No, not in my case. Constant, increasing pain, since my stroke nine-plus years ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm

@Scraps: I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope the great music helps somehow

Hopkins passed a few years after this was recorded.
I've seen Diedre Murray a few times with the Henry Threadgill Sextet as well.

As I recall he announces at the beginning of the set that it is not a composed piece. Something about being in the moment...

That's an exercise in trust and faith in yourself and your fellow musicians. It's certainly beautiful.
