I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Hello, Mayuko, the Vertiginous, those who identify as horizontalist, the passers-by.

horizontalist lol
Avatar 12:13pm

Hi rbrt! I actually do not know where this Mr.Doggy is from, but if my understanding is correct this is an accurate illustration of a person in a liminal space in the modern age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm

Home studio for the win. Another good day not to have to run across Exchange Place with frigid Hudson River winds worsening an already chill day. (Says the guy who went up to Nyack, NY, for coffee and doughnuts just after dawn.)

I put "Mr. Doggy" into Google reverse image search.
Google thinks It is actor Ben Stiller. Technology, it will save us!

Good afternoon, Sem! Horizontalists somehow sounds to me like a serious identity, with a level tool in their hands policing artwork installed on people's walls, checking if they're absolutely leveled etc....

I knew i recognized him! It's "hush puppy" from lamb chop!!!

@paul b: When I saw doggy in Mayuko's tweet earlier, who came to mind is actor David Paymer

ok I can stop obsessing over the doggy puppet now lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm

whatever you do don't image-search "lamb chop" without the word "puppet", unless you like to see animal flesh.
Avatar 12:25pm

@paul b That's so funny!! Maybe the eyebrows did that?

I would usually dock points for using the ubiquitous baby sample, but it's working for me here.

yeah i think i heard it in a tv ad once too

Almost as done as: eagle screech
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
coelacanth∅:

in my defense, when i used it i'd never heard it anywhere except as a ring tone my phone supplied. (the piece utilizes most of the ring tones from that phone)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm

Eyebrows yes and ears too possibly -- no one communicate this to Mr. Stiller.

rbrt noted Mr. Doggie is actually a Shari Lewis Puppet. I would add as a fun-fact that she co-wrote the Star Trek episode Lights of Zetar

I guess I had a good week: I got my october swag today, and I think I found a good cobbler (my trusted former one closed shop last year)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm

A cowboy boot cobbler, I hope, @fred.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm

an old cobbler in scotch plains,nj c.1995 replaced the heels on some black suede boots with softer heels for, i believe, around 12 bucks. that wont happen again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
coelacanth∅:

i finally found a cobbler within 30 miles to me that gets only good reviews, but my boots would cost at least $90. to re-sole,and i only need one of them done, so i bought new vibram soles. i haven't done it yet. it's a big job because they'll have to be trimmed on all sides.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm

@redkayak: I got a tote bag from them and it was big enough to hold my boots for my aforementioned trip to a cobbler's shop. Cowboy boots in a Baffler tote, that might be unusual
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
listener james from westwood:

@Mark: Something crunchy, to act as counterpoint to the crumpling hoods and exploding taillights.

@coelacantO: that is an excellent idea - I like Mayuklings too
