Thanks Melinda! Psychsploitation is pretty diffuse but I I think of a lot of AIP biker/freakout soundtracks from the late '60s, and a bunch of budget-label cash-in records. I'll see if I can find a link to some titles somewhere...

Stats are remarkable. Marfa's population is under 2k. Compare Winters in CA, near Sacramento, at over 6.5k. Winters occupies ~3 sq. mi.; Marfa just over 1.5. I feel like I could see all of Winters in a day. Marfa, an afternoon? (By "see" I mean "see," not "fully take in." But still.)

I like small towns...or at least some idealized notion of them. I remember visiting Chelmsford, MA, in '81. At 30k+, it's not exactly a small town, but I remember locating its center at the Adams Library. Public libraries often speak volumes (pun...intended) about the towns they occupy.
