Hey Richard. First in...
Welcome listeners, pledgers, and those about to pledge...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi Richard! Good to have you (and everyone else) tuning in tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm
Jeffrey Davison:

First up, we're offering this Loma album, on CD. $20 gets you in the running
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm
Richard S:

Only $20? Let me finish my tea....
Avatar 9:22pm
TDK60:

Evenin' Irene & Jeffrey. I hate when that happens, low on cash. Gotta move that stuff around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
Irene Trudel:

TDK60, the best part is that you don't need to pay up right away. We will bill you if you like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
Richard S:

Tea finished, $20 pledged, fingers crossed.....that MORE PEOPLE SEND MONEY TO WFMU

Both of you have helped unearth the music of remote Scots like: Kitchen Cynics.

I love your show, but I will do my official pledge tomorrow during Duane's show. Your program will me listed in my favs (5 chosen). You make me feel so good listening to your show each week. Gracias!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks Richard! And, TDK60, Alan from Kitchen Cynics is a particular fave of mine. So many great songs and albums. Maybe the most prolific songwriter i know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
Jeffrey Davison:

Two albums up for grabs now: the Loma CD and the Balmorhea LP "Clear Language"
$20 pledge makes you eligible for one of these beauties.

Wish I could afford to pledge at that level for the Todd discs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm
Jeffrey Davison:

Do it Goobz! How could you live without FMU?
Avatar 9:50pm
TDK60:

Some people need your show, as a refuge from the Frantick; a sonic oasis, so to speak.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm
Jeffrey Davison:

We're also going to be giving away the Saltland "A Common Truth" CD. We need some pledges! And remember, a pledge is just a promise to pay. We'll send out the forms after the Marathon, but we need your pledges now...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm
melinda:

Soothing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm
Irene Trudel:

H'lo Ashley, Katharsis, melinda, Herb, hendrix and Goobz! Hope you're doing your part to support us in out time of need at WFMU. I really hate having to pitch around these lovely sounds. Make the phones ring, the internet sing and I can play more music. 1-800-989-9368 or wfmu.org.
  9:55pm
hendrix wolfbat:

Ive pledged to two other shows already ahhhh I needs a sugar empire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm
Peter K.:

Isn't this the most beautiful music you've ever heard, people? Don't you love Irene's show? So PLEDGE already! And if you've already pledged, PLEDGE SOME MORE!! You'll be glad you did.
  9:57pm
Goobz:

Pledging online. Can't live w out FMU, but also can't live w out paying rent or buying food; so it has to be relatively modest sadly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm
Irene Trudel:

Okay, you're off the hook, hendrix. Hey, if any of you knows a person who listens and hasn't pledged, could you give 'em a gentle nudge?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm
Peter K.:

Or maybe NOT so gentle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm
pantz:

Thanks for your show, Irene. I chose your swag and i think I chose wisely.

Avatar 10:03pm
Andrew S:

I enjoy the pitching. Wouldnt want a year of it and it's a pain for the djs but as a listener you learn a lot about the station and you get the fun tag-teams. I wonder how those are determined, I like to think names in a hat or like in grade school when you lined up across from each other. But i suspect it is more sophisticated than that ;)

Go Irene go! We love you! And... great hearing you, too, Jeffrey - we love your show, as well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm

Two albums now up for grabs. $20 gets you in the running for Saltland, "A Common Truth" or Lean Year (self-titled). The first is a CD, the second an LP.
Avatar 10:12pm
TDK60:

Don't know French; that was online-translated ('maisson' is for 'company')....to tip the hat to Constellation staff and their musicians.
Avatar 10:14pm
TDK60:

(...and some Constellation combos do build up to some fierce emotions.)
Avatar 10:21pm
Andrew S:

You translated it (as did Irene) literally but it's a label. Maison de disques would translate literally as house of discs or records but it's how labels or record companies are referred to in Quebec french. There is no word "maisson" that I am aware of
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm
Jeffrey Davison:

Maisson means pledge, baby...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm

The double 's' there @10:12 PM is my typo.
Avatar 10:25pm
Andrew S:

I wasnt trying to correct you honestly, just thought you might be interested :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm
Irene Trudel:

Oh, the spirit of the translation is what counts. As does the pledging! Hi pantz and Jake!

And if you dont like what you are hearing on commercial radio tune in 5 minutes later, or 25 years later, and it will be the exact same.

I like that new Robyn H. rekkid album. Too bad I couldn't make the Monty Hall gigs.

slugluv1313:

Robyn is awesome! and yes hysterically funny, totally sweet guy too -- glad i was able to see at least one of his Monty Hall shows (pretty sure i saw him with The Egyptians waaaaaay back when at Maxwell's)
AND Robyn's kitties have their own instagram pages too! awwww :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
Jeffrey Davison:

Now offering Robyn Hitchcock's self-titled album on CD, and the remastered One Nation Underground by Pearls Before Swine. You might get one for a pledge of only $20...
Avatar 10:46pm
Andrew S:

Yeah Robyn's a cat guy, that just raises him a notch higher in my books whatever they are worth. I inherited a cat last week, he's like brushing a wookie but I'll get used to walking around looking like a cat-bed again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
joe mulligan:

Great show this evening Irene, and folks if you call tonight you might reach me to take your pledge!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Irene Trudel:

Sad but true, Andrew. Commercial radio never changes. slugluv, I love Robyn's kitties. Mr. Tubbs is it? And his storytelling never gets old. I was lucky enough to see Robyn with the the Egyptians in the UK in 1986.
Avatar 10:53pm
TDK60:

Great that Drag City reissued O.N.U. by P.B.S.
Avatar 10:55pm
Andrew S:

It used to have some merits but I think it was around the mid-80s when they all just formatted everything and bombasted everybody with the "more rock less talk" bs. I discovered community radio when I was about 14 and WFMU in the early (for us distant listeners) realplayer days and ive never listened (voluntarily) to a commercial radio stn since
Avatar 10:58pm
slugluv1313:

@ Irene -- YES! Robyn's storytelling is the best -- and how cool you got to see him with The Egyptians in the UK!!!
looking on Instagram now . . . TUBBY is @littletubs, and RINGO MORRISSEY STARDUST is @ringo_is_sad :)

I heard on another show that only 10 % of listeners pledge. Even given the people who may not be able to , thats a sad number if its accurate

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm

The Pearls Before Swine is up next for us to give away. If you don't have this album, you should! $20 gets you in the running, and it supports WFMU for another year.
Avatar 11:11pm
slugluv1313:

@ Andrew S. -- yes that IS sad!
and okay, while i currently do not have the means to pledge/contribute as much as i would like (no steady job/income, ugh!!!) -- i still figure out some way to pledge and support WFMU
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm
Jeffrey Davison:

Folk, Blues and Beyond. Simply essential. It can be yours. $20 gets you a shot at it, and you keep us alive another year. Graham and FMU are alike in that we both draw music from wherever...
Avatar 11:16pm
Andrew S:

me too slugluv1313. Its paltry but its important to me to feel like a part of this wonderful place. When i consider the hard work people do it seems distasteful to even mention giving a pledge, but i made mine a little early this year because i had a little money at the time and a fool and his money soon part. But i hope to have a little more before the end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
