Tony Coulter:

Hello, all! Tony Coulter here, doing the co-host thing, in support of the great Jesse K!
Avatar 7:07pm
Tony Coulter:

Jesse has a really great premium this year, called "New Bliss." It's a comp of analog-synth-heavy ambient/drone/experimental stuff, all from 2017. Really fab ... and yours for a pledge of $75!!
Avatar 7:08pm
βrian:

Just a sanity check: the sound level of this stream is *much* lower than the FCC stream.

Sounds good, though — just a bit distant.
Avatar 7:11pm
Tony Coulter:

I'm a fan of quieter-volume streams myself -- down with the loudness wars, I say!
Avatar 7:13pm
Tony Coulter:

YAY!! BIG THANKS to Max G of Sunnyside for his generous pledge! He'll be in the running for a prize at the top of the hour!
Avatar 7:13pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Thanks βrian, was my show coming in quieter than the previous show or is the stream in general just quieter?
Avatar 7:13pm
northguineahills:

Actually, βrian, in Brooklyn, the GTDS stream was louder there for me as well. I'm using my phone, so, the comparison may not be the same.

Just to let you know I emailed Joe McGasko to let him to credit a portion of my S4L to this show.
Thanks, Jesse.
Avatar 7:25pm
Tony Coulter:

HUGE THANKS to the stream's own Uncle Michael for his pledge to Jesse!! He sez: "I love and listen to your show!"
Avatar 7:25pm
northguineahills:

I just got an email back from Joe for an inquiry I made last Tuesday,

Hi Jesse! Thanks for playing my neighborly noise a few weeks ago!

Tony Coulter:

This recording of rain is blending with the sound of actual rain right outside my window.
Avatar 7:29pm
βrian:

The Drummer Stream levels seem low more often than not. I'll try to pay closer attention.

Love this rain. I'm almost tired of these blues skies, lately.

Tony Coulter:

SUPER THANKS to William C of Amory, Mississippi for his generous pledge! He'll be in the running for one of the three prizes we're giving away at the top of the hour.
Avatar 7:38pm
Tony Coulter:

And just to remind you -- those prizes are:

Francisco Lopez: La Selva (CD)
Else Marie Pade: Electronic Works 1958-1995 (2CD)
Thomas Brinkmann: What You Hear (Is What You Hear) (CD)
Avatar 7:40pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

This Else Marie Pade 2CD set is a really remarkable document of a truly great innovator and musician. Also, it's never sold for less than $22 on discogs: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 7:40pm
βrian:

Wow. Amory, Mississippi. Roughly between Birmingham and Memphis, from what I can tell.
Avatar 7:41pm
Tony Coulter:

I need to get my own copy of this Else Marie Pade thing -- it *is* indeed really remarkable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
Webhamster Henry:

This is good! I may steal some ideas for a drone show I'm doing in a few weeks.
Avatar 7:43pm
Tony Coulter:

WOWZA!! Giant thanks to Rex G of New Haven for his pledge!! He will definitely be in the running for a prize.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Webhamster Henry:

This just shows you - as demonstrated over and over and over again on the GTDStream - that there's more good stuff out there than you can possibly imagine!
Avatar 7:44pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Henry, thanks again for the source audio you sent! Steal away and if you want drones my premium this year has plenty of great ones from the last 12 monhts: wfmu.org...
Avatar 7:45pm
Tony Coulter:

BIG THANKS also to stream Supreme Commander Doug Schulkind!! He sends "humongous love" to Jesse!!
Avatar 7:46pm
βrian:

Coltrane: "A stream supreme, a stream supreme ..."
Avatar 7:47pm
Tony Coulter:

And ALSO... GIGANTO thanks to Aaron H of Gainesville, FL, who has already pledged TWICE! A true mensch!
  7:48pm
William C:

βrian -- it's exactly between Memphis and B'ham. The KC, Memphis & B'ham Railroad picked the halfway point and laid out a town in that spot. Everybody in the nearby port town (Cotton Gin Port) packed up, abandoned it, and moved 5 miles east to the new town in 1887.

Amory would be a more interesting place if it weren't dry.
Avatar 7:50pm
Tony Coulter:

I love this Sarah Davachi track on Jesse great new comp, "New Bliss" ... which is yours for a pledge of $75!!!!
  7:51pm
William C:

BTW I just discovered this show a few weeks ago and it pushes ALL the right buttons for me. TYVM Jesse.
Avatar 7:53pm
βrian:

@William C: I'd rather drink Port than Cotton Gin any day, but that's just me. Did the 5-mile move have to do with the lack of lubrication?
Avatar 7:53pm
northguineahills:

My senior year of undergrad, I passed through Amory on from Gainesville on the way to the Geography Conference in Memphis, b/c when I had more free time, I used to try to take the shortest route as the crow flies w/o using interstates.
Avatar 7:54pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

@William, thanks so much, that's great to hear, glad to have you!
  7:56pm
William C:

βrian, it had more to do with the flood of lubrication (in $$$ form) from the railroad. Now it's a BNSF town with Berkshire Hathaway lubrication.
Avatar 8:00pm
βrian:

Well, I have Berkshire Hathaway work boots, for what it's worth.
Avatar 8:00pm
Tony Coulter:

and ... the three lucky winners of Jesse's fab first-hour prizes are ... William C, who gets the Francisco Lopez, Aaron H, who gets the Else Marie Prade, and Rex G, who gets the Thomas Brinkmann. Thanks so much to all of you for your pledges!!!
Avatar 8:01pm
northguineahills:

danks, Tony auf Jesse!

Avatar 8:15pm
Tony Coulter:

Jesse hasn't been playing his premium much, but I heard it before the show and it's really fine. For a pledge of $75, it'll be yours!
Avatar 8:16pm
Tony Coulter:

SUPER BIG thanks to Michelle W of Portland, OR, for her pledge!! My hometown comes through! Much appreciated!
Avatar 8:16pm
northguineahills:

I saw Pharmakon when she was touring this album, she kills it live!
Avatar 8:17pm
Tony Coulter:

ALSO -- BIG, BIG thanks to Richard R of Metuchen, NJ for his generous pledge!! YAY!
Avatar 8:20pm
Tony Coulter:

This Lena Platonos is totally my kind of thing these days. Need to score my own copy, apparently.
Avatar 8:22pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Her whole catalog is terrific and lots of the best ones have been reissued on Dark Entries
Avatar 8:22pm
Tony Coulter:

Man, that was a s*m*o*o*t*h segue, Jesse!
Avatar 8:23pm

From Lena P to The Survivals, I mean....

@ stepchild: Ha! Somehow your comment made me flash back to a Trimpin concert I was at years ago. Is he still around?
Avatar 8:39pm
Tony Coulter:

To answer my own question: Yes! Discogs reveals he released an album in 2016.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm

Trimpin is 66 so maybe a little hobbled but thriving!

That 2016 disc looks to be things recorded in 1997, but I see some news of new Trimpin installations as recently as 2015
Avatar 8:44pm

I'm always impressed with how much great *new* stuff Jesse plays. The man has his finger on the pulse of ... something. Time? The Universe? Happening-ness?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm

Haven't thought of him in so long, happy to be reminded
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm

Hey Tony and Jesse. Just peeking in. This show always gives me ideas.
Avatar 8:45pm
Tony Coulter:

BIG THANKS to Kit F for their generous pledge!!!
Avatar 8:54pm
Tony Coulter:

Phew!! She's playing Portland this Friday, at Yale Union. I'll be there -- and not much gets me out at night any more....
Avatar 8:55pm
northguineahills:

Yeah, this Phew album is tre bien.
Avatar 9:00pm
Tony Coulter:

And the lucky winners of the hour-2 prizes are: gloomsday, who gets the Pharmakon CD; Richard R, who gets the Anthony Child CD; and Kit F, who gets the Lena Platonos LP. HUGE THANKS to all of you for your pledges!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm

awesome! thank you tony and jesse :) i really dug what you'd played of the pharmakon record.
Avatar 9:01pm
northguineahills:

Nice, those prizes were tastey aural nuggets.
Avatar 9:11pm
Tony Coulter:

My cat is currently poking at my arm as I type. I may let him pick the prizewinners at the top of the hour.
Avatar 9:12pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

My cat usually gets to pick at least one song a week so that seems only fair
Avatar 9:14pm
Tony Coulter:

My neighbor's cat, who visits our house all too often, tries to piss on one of my records every week.
Avatar 9:17pm
Tony Coulter:

YAY!! BIG THANKS to return pledger Max G of Sunnyside for his generous pledge!!
Avatar 9:18pm
northguineahills:

That Robert Ashley is w/ the Bob James Trio (I have it on vinyl).

Leaving work in 5 mins, and am literally pledged out of my mouser S4L, thanks Jesse and Tony!
Avatar 9:19pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Thanks as always northguineahills!
Avatar 9:20pm
northguineahills:

Whoops, I was wrong, I mix those two albums up.
Avatar 9:21pm
Tony Coulter:

I saw a complete run of Source Magazines once, complete with the records. They were a thing of beauty, but way beyond my means, for sure.
Avatar 9:21pm
Tony Coulter:

They were at a record fair out here, oddly.
Avatar 9:24pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Amazing! Do you think that was the first owner or had someone pieced them together over time?
Avatar 9:25pm
Tony Coulter:

They were in pristine shape, so I'd guess they were always a set. A really great bookstore called Division Leap was selling them -- they track down amazing stuff. Unfortunately, they have left Portland and moved to upstate New York.
Avatar 9:27pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

For reference I guess: there's a complete set on discogs now for only $4,345.00
Avatar 9:27pm
Tony Coulter:

So, not the first owner, no -- but I think Division Leap probably bought them from the first owner.
Avatar 9:28pm
Tony Coulter:

Division Leap wasn't charging that much -- but it was at least $1,000.
Avatar 9:34pm
Tony Coulter:

Only 27 minutes left to pledge for Jesse's show! Show your appreciation for his great radio-ing -- and maybe win yourself a fine prize while you're at it!
Avatar 9:36pm
Tony Coulter:

YAY!!! The station's own Bryce Kretschmann has checked in with a pledge! Big thanks, BK!! (And greetings, too.)
Avatar 9:37pm
