I'm back from record shopping (among other things) in and around Los Angeles, so it's time for another InterActiv™ Listening Party! I've listed the records I bought on my trip at the top of the playlist to the left. Now YOU THE LISTENER can make a request for the record(s) you want to hear on the show! I haven't listened to any of these yet myself, so we'll check them out together.

Post your request right here in the playlist comments, and tune in this Wednesday night (the 16th) at 9pm!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/16/18 7:10am Barkevious Shabazz:

Well, ACR's Knife Slits Water is the greatest, and The Shades on Philly based Go Go Records(home, of Chandra!) is a great little rave up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 8:03am Mike Sin:

I'd like to hear a track off of that second Silencers' LP "Romanic". I actually know a few of the tracks from their first LP (some actually had videos that got played on MTV back in the day), but I know nothing of that second LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 3:15pm Stevel:

Gotta hear Vog, just because and Nazareth.

That is all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:02pm fleep:

Greetings from the back door of Beverly Hills
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:05pm Folsom:

Pink Panther Disco would be good to hear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:08pm the Master:

Carol Douglas - "So You Win Again" (Midsong Int'l, 1978)
Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:08pm efd:

That's the spirit, Folsom! Coming up!

hi fleep, I guess I was knocking at your back door last week, in a manner of speaking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:09pm efd:

got it, Master!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:09pm mb:

Thank-you EFD for the tickets to Elsewhere in BK two weeks ago. Very solid venue. The mangement and security were top notch. They have a very nice smoking area if you got em.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:09pm Mailman Tom:

Al Downing, please.
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:10pm kmbrly:

I vote for “the colonel- too many cooks”
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:11pm efd:

great choice, kmbrly! That's a lost fave from my college radio days.

I see you Mailman Tom!

Thanks for the report, mb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:11pm Snortley:

In 1980, "hoover" meant just about only one thing. That's got my curiosity.
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:12pm kmbrly:

efd—
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:13pm kmbrly:

Nice!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:14pm Folsom:

i assume there is technically no bad choice for songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:15pm JakeGould:

I am going to go with…

• Candidate - "I Don't Wanna Lose You"
Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:15pm Julie M:

WOW. The only word that can describe your Los Angeles haul is Extravaganza.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:16pm efd:

Folsom, there might be! I haven't listened to them yet, so there could be some clunkers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:17pm efd:

That said, my track record of buying records sight unheard is pretty good if I do say so myself
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:18pm kmbrly:

Yay plimsouls
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:18pm JakeGould:

I will also ask for… *drumroll*

• Wha-Koo - “Fragile Line”

Mainly because I want to know what the fragile line is. Perhaps love?
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:19pm JacoBier:

The Mighty Lemon Drops, please. Because why the hell not?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:20pm Folsom:

Can we hear you unseal the Bobbidazzler?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:20pm efd:

too late! That was the first song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:20pm Hoboken Jack:

Welcome back, EFD! Baseball's rained out so I'm all yours tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:20pm Folsom:

whoops missed the playlist, already done
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:21pm JakeGould:

I like theses Silencers. They should never shut up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:21pm mb:

I'd like to request:
Randy Pump & the Gas-O-Lettes - "Murder In The Gas Line"

With the impending gas price increase i'd like to hear Randy Pump's experience with gas station violence.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:22pm efd:

happy to have you, Jack!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:22pm efd:

Randy Pump is definitely coming up, mb! Likely in set 2.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:23pm listener 126464:

how about SVT 'Heart of Stone'? was anyone else at their dirt club show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/16/18 9:23pm Barkevious Shabazz:

I also find Randy Pump compelling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm requesting the Earth Quake track. On behalf of Pele, Hawaii's goddess of fire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:28pm efd:

noted, KfHP
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:29pm efd:

I was wondering why this Al Downing sounded so trebly and I think it's at least partly because it's a 5+ minute record on a 7"
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:31pm D A in L A:

Thanks for BANJO SOLO, AL Jr.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:32pm medson:

Good evening efd/everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:35pm chris_in_space:

Mike Lupica! YES! Miss him. @efd please get him to fill in at some point in the future.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:40pm karlward:

So I totally have never heard A Certain Ratio. Today could be a big day for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:42pm Folsom:

@efd for unheard records do you have to keep a finger on the dump button?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/16/18 9:42pm Barkevious Shabazz:

Immediate payoff with Randy Pump.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:42pm medson:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:45pm efd:

thanks johnk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:50pm efd:

Folsom, I'm keeping an ear out but for the most part the records I get are usually curse-free. Singers were a little more cautious back then I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:50pm medson:

Were these records all carried on the plane?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:50pm karlward:

I don't know what to think about this. At least part of it is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:51pm JakeGould:

“A Certain Ratio” is a weird Factory band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:51pm karlward:

If only there were some mathematical way to determine how good it is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:52pm karlward:

Maybe you could divide the good stuff, by like, the good and bad stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:52pm efd:

medson, they were in my checked bag.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:52pm efd:

worth pointing out this ACR is an alternate mix, fwiw
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:54pm karlward:

I would say I like this about 5/9. I think I'm done with the math jokes.
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:55pm johnk77:

a request for gleaming spires
very cool guys in that band
jim goodwin was also in
the call
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:56pm upstate sean:

Great stuff efd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:56pm JakeGould:

Oooh! I like “Gleaming Spires.” They were basically Sparks band back in the day.
  Wed. 5/16/18 9:57pm JacoBier:

Yes! Thanks for the Lemon Drops, efd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 9:58pm medson:

Thanks efd : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:00pm Folsom:

@karlward so you liked it but it wasn't golden?
  Wed. 5/16/18 10:04pm a.:

someone please get that vog track on youtube
  Wed. 5/16/18 10:07pm Stevel:

Yeah, I thought Vog was going to be more on the Krautrock side of things. Always something new!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/16/18 10:09pm Barkevious Shabazz:

Ethyl Burns.

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:11pm karlward:

And I am instantly back in my childhood home puzzling over early 80s pop that I had no chance of understanding at that age. This is pretty great.
  Wed. 5/16/18 10:12pm kmbrly:

It’s like oingo boingo meets Huey Lewis
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:12pm JakeGould:

Oooh… Extremely 1980s of “Gleaming Spires.” They got a Mark Kostabi cover on this one. www.discogs.com...
  Wed. 5/16/18 10:16pm johnk77:

possibly jimbo on sax
on that gleaming spires
or maybe it was a synth?
anyway thanks @efd
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:17pm medson:

Were you familiar with all these records?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:19pm efd:

if you define "familiar" as recognizing a band name/member/producer then I'd say maybe I was familiar with 20-25% of them...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:20pm Folsom:

too many cooks is a good find
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:21pm Kat in Chicago:

Can't remember whether or not I liked The Fluid during that Sub Pop grunge moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:22pm medson:

I dig it. Nice stuff
  Wed. 5/16/18 10:23pm kmbrly:

Great track! Quintessential Colin for sure. Thanks for playing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:24pm JakeGould:

FWIW, a lot of the tracks tonight clearly have piano and/or sax as they should.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:24pm efd:

@jakegould I had to do an on-the-fly rejection of Kandidate. Too soft-rocky, which surprised me; I was expecting something glammy based on the band name and label.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:25pm medson:

This has an Elton John flavor to it for sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:25pm JakeGould:

@efd: It’s cool. You played the “Gleaming Spires” so I am good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:26pm efd:

OK now I get it
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/16/18 10:28pm JakeGould:
