A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Mornin' all! Part of my morning ritual these days is watching an old school episode of either Doctor Who or Dark Shadows over my coffee and cereal. Nice way to start my day on a suitably off-kilter note.

The BBC in the 1960s sounds like a fascinating, uptight (and excuse me for saying) extremely protestant place. Studio engineers in white lab coats and weird hierarchy B.S.

Also, I have takena break to show a colleague photos of how utterly beautiful Alain Delon and Françoise Hardy were in the late 60s, so today has been a successful one, all told.

Hearing this sun ra album flipped my wig regarding the genre of "exotica". Suddenly the bar was raised beyond the reach of Denny, Lyman, etc. Just great.

@Trouble Yeas, I saw the eagle/fox/rabbit video. I know that in Alaska, schoolkids have to walk about with furled umbrellas or sticks pointed upwards to stop eagles swooping. In London we just get grey squirrels and seagulls trying to nick our sandwiches

The food in Peru is soooooooo good. The "chifa" was a wee bit disappointing though, as it's not really a hybrid of Peruvian and Chinese from what I tried; it's really just Cantonese food. Also, interesting point: You'll get different answers if you ask why there is rebar sticking up out of almost every house in most areas. Some say it's for tax reasons (because "unfinished" houses aren't taxed the same way). Others insist it's not about taxes and give other explanations.
