Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from May 25, 2018 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hey Uncle Michael: How about more of these awful Dylan covers for Dylan's 77th birthday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
Uncle Michael:

Well, they're not as good as 1200s, and wouldn't stand up to gigging, but they're good and I could never justify the cost of 1200s.

We've been slowly phasing them into production rooms at the station I DJ at, but I've not used them yet.

Henry! You caught me!

I like that they can play records backwards. Also, I think they're a little easier to kludge a mixer remote start relay into.

SUMMER 1973: SOLO ALBUM
Clarence White – electric and acoustic guitar, lead vocals
Roland White – mandolin, vocals
Herb Pedersen – rhythm guitar, vocals
Ry Cooder – slide guitar (“Why You Been Gone So Long?”)
Byron Berline – fiddle
Lee Sklar – electric bass
Roger Bush – standup bass
Ed Green – drums
On June 28-29, Clarence went into the studio with the late Jim Dickson to begin work on his first solo album. Judging by the tracks that were eventually released on Silver Meteor, the tracklist was more or less composed of songs in the White Brothers’ setlist at the time. The one thing that jumps out, not just here, but throughout 1973, is Clarence’s vocal confidence. “Bugler” was the first sign that he’d grown comfortable with his voice, but here he almost sounds like a genuine frontman. The only thing missing from these tracks are bona fide electric guitar leads, which Clarence never had the chance to overdub.

They can play 78s. If that's important.

Dare I say that skiffle was to the British Fifties what Punk was to the British Seventies.

UM: That's one of the reasons I want at least one of them. The 78 thing.

Brian, Dylan was skiffle-punk over here,I'd say. (debatable)

I'll be spending some Quality time with my cordless trimmer( aka mower) tomorrow. Lightweight compared to your equipment, Unc, but enough for a 20' X 70' backyard.
