Obviously some mom left a copy of "The Happy Hooker" near a bag of asparagus.

I just got my Stumptown premium CD yesterday. I'm so excited, I could plotz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Rich in Washington:

We had white asparagus the other night. It had an unsettling appearance and texture. It seems like I've cooked it before, didn't like it then, but somehow forgot and bought some again.
Avatar 12:39pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Rich! Hope you like it. For one horrible moment I thought you meant Stumptown Coffee had become a label, just like Voodoo Donuts.
Avatar 12:41pm
Tony Coulter:

Hope you like the premium, I mean ... not white asparagus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Rich in Washington:

I also love the Langford/Sputnik tee and the glow-in-the-dark magnet.
I only now need a WFMU toothbrush holder to feel like my life's complete.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
coelacanth∅:

i've never been tempted to buy or grow white asparagus. it just doesn't seem right.
- and now that i know the fundraiser stuff is getting mailed i may commence being anxious about it arriving during 1 of the weekly 4-day spans i'm away from home and being ruined by natural elements.
Avatar 12:49pm
annie:

white aspargus is just the spears grown in sand with no sunlight hitting the stalks. i think they're obnoxious, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Rich in Washington:

I actually forgot about it. I think that helped, then was pleasantly surprised to see it in my mailbox last night. The T-shirt was pleasantly of high quality and even fit my dysmorphic torso to a 't'.

I liked that series of records they put out on Sonic Youth Records.

Hi. Chiming in to say that I like the Thousand Leaves/Washing Machine period SY very much (though this might be because it's also when I saw them live the most).

All this talk about music collection organization is making me anxious. My records, CDs, and cassettes are really disorganized at the moment, mostly due to lack of shelving. Hence the boxes and boxes of LPs in my basement.

I wonder about the amount of listening that went into this set, and the songs that didn't make the cut (by a wide margin). Tony, you're doing the lord's work here.

I've been enjoying the music immensely too but also cannot help wondering what are those... asparagus people??? Is that how some of the basement records feel to you?
Avatar 2:36pm
Tony Coulter:

@ NGH: Fondation released three great cassettes in the early '80s. They were related to the band Spacecraft, and also the France-based version of Musica Elettronica Viva (MEV).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
Jeff Golick:

This guy's voice kinda reminds me of Michael Lonsdale.

@ Mayuko: My paranoid fantasies about my basement records run more in the directions of evil mold monsters than asparagus.
