How do, Tony and all!!

βrian:

Good afternoon.

Tony Coulter:

Hiya, James and βrian ... and greetings, all!

Today's mystery LP-under-the-cassettes is pretty hard to guess, because so little is showing. Still, can anyone ID it?

Hello James, Brian, Tony!

hiya Tony, hi everyone! quite an interesting DDDJJJ666 fill in last week! (tony, you practical joker you ... ha ha.)
Avatar 12:05pm
βrian:

The mystery of the radio stream surpasses us at times.

LP: Lawrence Welk "getting under your skin" - his avant-garde jazz outing?
  12:05pm
Dean:

Bay City Rollers? RIP, Alan Longmuir.

@Tony, My son has been in PDX for a couple weeks visiting cousins, with another week and a half to go. If you bump into him, tell him to behave.
Avatar 12:08pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, JtotheK and Dean!
Avatar 12:11pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: Someone was setting off firecrackers outside my house yesterday -- your son, maybe?
Avatar 12:16pm
Tony Coulter:

No one will be able to guess today's mystery record, so I might as well let the skeleton out of the bag right now: It's Peter Hope & The Jonathan S. Podmore Method's "Dry Hip Rotation"

Dean:

The little scamp! I told him to wait until the Fourth!
Avatar 12:31pm
Tony Coulter:

Ahhh -- from the ease-of-accuplaylisting point of view, this is my kind of tape -- with nice long pauses between tracks.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Yvang:

And it's a great one!
Avatar 12:40pm
Tony Coulter:

Yes, it is! His LP is really good too -- need to find a copy www.discogs.com...

I can whistle to this!

Ahoy, NGH!!

Just list all of the artists all at once....

yubbie!
Avatar 12:51pm

Did just that -- though it looks a bit wacky!
Avatar 12:52pm

Hey, hey, hello, chocolate monk!

I had no idea Touch Recs was around in '83....
Avatar 12:57pm
Tony Coulter:

This was one of their first few releases.
Avatar 12:58pm
Tony Coulter:

OK: screw listing the track titles too, in one big comment -- it messes up the playlist too much. See here for track titles: www.discogs.com...

βrian:

My garage has gone cattywampus. Anybody had experience persuading a small building back to plumb? I'm guessing I'm going to use cables and some sort of winch.
Avatar 1:07pm
βrian:

(I mean, cuz this is what folks typically do for the Independence Day holiday, right?)
Avatar 1:07pm
northguineahills:

βrian: I suggest watching this instructional video - www.imdb.com...
Avatar 1:30pm
Tony Coulter:

To me, this comp really feels more like one long mood piece than it does a bunch of discrete pieces. Still, I guess it's not *that* hard to ID the separate artists -- sorry for wimping out on you!
Avatar 1:32pm
Tony Coulter:

This is obviously Test Department!
Avatar 1:34pm

ooh, sinister whale songs and psychopathic breathing, elevated blood pressure; what's not to love?! :)

KITTEN BUTTS!!!!!!!!
Avatar 1:58pm
Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Ike!

No! No! Don't kick the kitten!
Avatar 2:05pm
Tony Coulter:

Talking of four-legged critters, two possums seem intent on moving into our kitchen. Not just to eat, but to hang out. I had never been directly exposed to possums before moving out west -- have to say they seem oddly hapless.
Avatar 2:07pm
Tony Coulter:

For one thing, they seem to be very near-sighted and maybe a little hard of hearing too.
Avatar 2:07pm
geezerette:

Don't sublet to possums Tony, they're deadbeats.
Avatar 2:08pm
Tony Coulter:

Ha!
Avatar 2:10pm
geezerette:

Aren't you amazed by how big they are? I am! Amazed, I mean.
Avatar 2:11pm
Tony Coulter:

Yeah, I am -- though one of our two is much bigger than the other ... and probably pretty old, in possum terms.
Avatar 2:12pm
Tony Coulter:

He/she is very grizzled and a bit hobbled seeming.
Avatar 2:13pm
Tony Coulter:

What's amazing to me is how mild-mannered they are despite all those fearsome teeth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
chris:

been enjoying these tapes, Tony.

one really nice thing about possums: they eat lots and lots of ticks!
Avatar 2:19pm
geezerette:

Yeah, those teeth are like daggers but all they want to do is roll up into a ball and pretend to be invisible. Seriously though, they are wild animals and don't make good house pets.
Avatar 2:20pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey there, Chris! Glad you're listening and enjoying!
Avatar 2:21pm
Tony Coulter:

@ geezerette: Don't worry: we're not planning to adopt them. Still, I am enjoying their almost nightly visits to our kitchen.
Avatar 2:26pm
geezerette:

Chris, good point!

Tony, it's really incredible how much wildlife lives in the city with us. There are deer in the canyons near the coast, and hot tubbing bears who make great video on slow news days. We're the interlopers.
Avatar 2:27pm
geezerette:

"Yellow Fields" is beautiful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
ɨkɛ:

I'd never kick a kitten! And I'm too tired to kick anything. My cat, who thinks she's still a kitten, wanted to play fetch at 5 a.m. This involves batting a little hedgehog toy around and flipping it up into the air. On top of me. And the AC is in the main room, so I couldn't close the door and keep her out.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
JtotheK:

this colin potter tape is quite mellow-mood inspiring.
Avatar 2:39pm
geezerette:

Haha! I used to come home from work at 1am and find my cat wide awake and eager to play hall soccer. I miss that, she was a great kitty.

I like this - The orchestration is very familiar to me, as a bedroom cassette master.
Avatar 2:40pm
Tony Coulter:

Webhamster! Heya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm

I keep forgetting to build a cable so I can dub these Tape Hiss Shows onto cassettes. #killingmusicsince1982

Have to leave but still listening. Thanks, Tony! Colin Potter is wonderful and new to me.
Happy 4th everyone!
