We are renting a farmhouse nestled into a valley fecund with wildly robust fruits and veggies. Our “host” drops by regularly with fresh eggs laid maybe 100 meters from our veranda. A big tub of homemade cheese showed up in our fridge yesterday. Restaurants are gobsmackingly inexpensive. Squid, goat, lamb, shrimps in a great abundance. Easily the best thing we’ve snarfed down so far was a roasted eggplant dish with feta. It tasted like steak.
