Pre-hello, Meghan. It was 109 here yesterday, dry as a bone. The air was shimmering, like in the desert where you might be able to see an oasis in the distance..

Book's time and poetry, remembering that photo of you in Kenya. You "you were" kissing that giraff and I was loving time, sometimes I think of future!

JakeGould:

It’s less humid in NYC today and I am taking tomorrow off and that is all that matters to me right now.

hey everyone!

London is like the sahara. There are camels in Borough Market. Northerners have to stay indoors until night falls. But it's going to rain tomorrow so we'll all be flooded. Hello Meghan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm
Meghan:

Hello hello everyone! Hooray for a not as crazy humid and dry (for now) day here!

Sun! is excellent theme for today following all that rain for days here.
  12:13pm
Elwyn:

lots of sun here lately in Sydney but mornings and late nights are really cold. I hate how cold it is when I go running at night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm

Elwyn, you know that just means run faster!

Hi, all. You're saying it's a three dog night there?
Avatar 12:29pm
βrian:

Not "Cujat," silly. Rhymes with nougat. (Pretty sure, anyway.)
  12:29pm
Listener Robert:

Does foamy bath water (i.e. Mr. Bubble) make you feel cleaner than regular bath water? (Assuming you also use soap, or assuming you don't.)
  12:29pm
Elwyn:

I need to run faster. my heart rate zone is mainly in zone 3 - aerobic - but I don't want to break my Achilles tendons.
  12:30pm
JakeGould:

What about two large dogs? Anyone see those big and furry dogs in NY/NJ during this humid B.S.? They all look so sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
Meghan:

In Thailand I saw these really huge very very furry dogs for sale and I kept thinking- WHY on earth do these dogs live here?! Why?! This is way way way too hot for them!
Avatar 12:35pm
βrian:

I saw a brief video re a dog who was sneaking into an ice machine to cool off. Très cute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm

awwww poor buddy! These fur coats are HOT!
  12:37pm
JakeGould:

@Meghan: There is a Maine Coon at one of the local fruit stands that looks lovely but you can tell it just doesn’t want to deal with this. Bet you anything that cat sneaks into the walk-in cooler.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Meghan:

I was so happy I got dog snuggles last night while going to bed. She's been avoiding me all summer!
  12:45pm
Listener Robert:

So now the question is, do fluffy dogs & coon cats feel cooler swimming if there's Mr. Bubble in the water? Or would seltzer be the better form of bubbles?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
Meghan:

hmmmmmm I wonder...... Mr Bubble may make them smell better.....

As a kid I was allergic to Mr Bubble

Navel gazers would love that bar.
  1:01pm
Listener Robert:

Meghan, if your Mr. Bubble allergy was to skin generally, that's one thing, but if it was in the form of urinary or genital irritation, that plays into an invention of mine -- users.bestweb.net... . Too bad it never made money, that's just a legacy page because I'm still proud of it.

frenchee:

years ago, I lived in Long Island City across from a closed bar with round windows. The spouse and I dreamed of opening a bar called Penny's Porthole (Penny was my dog at the time, we even had a cap'n's outfit worked out for her).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
Meghan:

Awwwww Captain Penny! Arf Arf Captain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Meghan:

Robert- It was a rash on the skin. I've been able to enjoy a bubbly bath since, so it was either some chemical in that or my allergy has disappeared!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

When we were kids, Dad would have a side of beef stored at the town's butcher shop. The meat locker was like 10F/-12C or something. Walking in there with Mom in summer to pick out our steaks and hamburger packages was amazing relief.

frenchee:

great show so far, Meghan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Meghan:

Ken, I worked for an ice sculptor in the office. The office was unbelievably hot, so I'd take a break in the freezers that held the ice and try to see how long I could stay in there in a tank top, shorts and flip flops before I couldn't take it anymore....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@Meghan - Ha. I can picture you walking in there with your cup of warm soda and a little ice pick.

Ken- We did go in there and pick out chunks of ice for our cocktails! We had a lot of booze there for the liquor companies. Whiskey was one of them.... and nice solid chunk of ice for it worked nicely!

When you get a chance...dog impostor in the Mr. Bubble, and the culturally important "Madame, how do you do" moment:

www.youtube.com...
  1:30pm
Listener Robert:

In the 1960s, Mr. Bubble and similar supermarket-sold "all family" bubble baths were powders formulated similarly to the high-suds all-purpose detergents of the time. The alkylbenzene sulfonate in high concentrations was irritating to many skins.

Speaking of festivals, you hear how restrictive Coachella's exclusivity dates and radius are for participating acts? Getting sued over it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Meghan:

βrian- ooooooooooooffffff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
Meghan:

still b/p- GOOD! That not only screws both the band, but also the locals who couldn't or didn't want to go to the festival. I know Coachella pays a lot of those big acts to get together for their festival, but what about the other bands that aren't.
Avatar 1:45pm
still b/p:

Protecting your business potential is one thing, but prohibiting your hired acts from any other festivals across America in festival season is an oversized idiotic hammer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
