Even into my childhood and my high school years (late 70s), archy and mehitabel (and Don Marquis) were relevatively famous — at least in the book crowd

Have you seen Jerry Springer, the Opera? Or at least heard it? Because it’s great, but it’s hard to see or hear in America (it’s British)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35am
BronwynB:

hi satisfactory! glad you're enjoying the show :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36am
BronwynB:

@scraps: i have, and i actually thought of playing it today but there's not a lot in there that's fcc-friendly
Avatar 3:36am
grtyvr:

Ricky Gervais should do musical theatre
Avatar 3:38am
grtyvr:

A show about gerry springer is not fcc friendly...
Alanis, now that's ironic.
Avatar 3:38am
Scraps:

You know, I didn’t think of that..... of course it’s full of swear words, even — especially! — the chorus.

Robbo from Sydney:

Great show Bronwyn! So much fun. Loved the snugglepot and cuddlepie sountrack song - seems obscure to you in NJ maybe but to an 40 something Aussie very familiar. Chachi from Happy Days was great too.
Avatar 4:12am
greyscale:

oh yes... yer totally correct on the early SNL.
Avatar 4:13am
Scraps:

Everyone overrates the original cast. IMO.
Avatar 4:14am
grtyvr:

has Henry Winkler tried singing?
Avatar 4:16am
grtyvr:

"Meet your second wife" approaches what the original cast was aiming at. But the density of good episodes fell off ...
Avatar 4:16am
Scraps:

Winkler was in Children’s Hospital, and they did a bit of singing.... but I can’t remember Winkler singing
Avatar 4:17am
grtyvr:

I would watch Winkler sing....I am sure he would choose well at karaoke....
Avatar 4:17am
greyscale:

sure... after 40 years, NatLamp/SNL humor seems a bit trite, but at the time, not many people "got" the humor (in a mass sense).
