Was hit by a car, kept getting sick before my insurance from my employer kicked in. I remember being baffled that the hospital wouldn't help me. Then later with insurance learning the what they cover, what they don't game was argh

	♥ 5:34pm Phillippe Bastille: @NGH and @Jocelyn Thanks. Its going to be awhile. He's still manic, but not dangerously so. But manic people think they don't need their meds so they don't take them. He lives with us which is a living hell. He won't get much better until he crashes or until he gets in trouble and gets tossed back in. FMU and the kind folks on the message boards are a nice escape! On the plus side, I've dropped 13 unneeded pounds from the stress lol

	♥ 5:37pm fred: @PB, ngh and Jocelyn: The French system is kind of the opposite: the premiums are high (though you tend to ignore them because they are mandatory and taken from your paycheck), there are low deductibles on everything, but none for major stuff: when I had heart surgery and spend 5 weeks in hospitals I had to pay about $50 for ambulance transfer from one to another, and only a month after leaving. That's it. Single payer has its pros and cons

	5:44pm Jocelyn: Fred, Do they still give you entire boxes of medicine? When I lived in Paris, I needed antibiotics twice. And instead of giving X amount of pills I got an entire box of 40 even though I only needed/was prescribed 24.
	♥ 5:44pm northguineahills: @fred $50 for an ambulance transfer, that barely more then uber fare. There's a reason after I tourniqueted my arm (slash my hand to the bone, washing a long beer glass), that I kept my hand w/ pressure in a towel under my coat, and called for a livery cab to go to NYU Medical (this was a few years ago). (wow, we went sort of dark, thankfully Sasha is keeping it uplifting! :)

Was hit by a car, kept getting sick before my insurance from my employer kicked in. I remember being baffled that the hospital wouldn't help me. Then later with insurance learning the what they cover, what they don't game was argh

He lives with us which is a living hell. He won't get much better until he crashes or until he gets in trouble and gets tossed back in. FMU and the kind folks on the message boards are a nice escape! On the plus side, I've dropped 13 unneeded pounds from the stress lol

	♥ 5:37pm fred: @PB, ngh and Jocelyn: The French system is kind of the opposite: the premiums are high (though you tend to ignore them because they are mandatory and taken from your paycheck), there are low deductibles on everything, but none for major stuff: when I had heart surgery and spend 5 weeks in hospitals I had to pay about $50 for ambulance transfer from one to another, and only a month after leaving. That's it. Single payer has its pros and cons

	5:44pm Jocelyn: Fred, Do they still give you entire boxes of medicine? When I lived in Paris, I needed antibiotics twice. And instead of giving X amount of pills I got an entire box of 40 even though I only needed/was prescribed 24.

There's a reason after I tourniqueted my arm (slash my hand to the bone, washing a long beer glass), that I kept my hand w/ pressure in a towel under my coat, and called for a livery cab to go to NYU Medical (this was a few years ago). (wow, we went sort of dark, thankfully Sasha is keeping it uplifting! :)
