For more than 25 years, Bob Irwin, the Dean of Sundazed Music, has befuddled, disoriented, and otherwise thrilled collectors and consumers alike by refusing to drive between the lines. Swerving wildly from garage to psych, from surf to soul, from biker to bossa, Bob’s steering with his elbows and hollerin’ like a banshee as he careens all over Route ‘60s, knocking over traffic cones.

The show is called Big Planet Noise! – and it’s hosted by Bob and Gina Frary Bacon, the gal with the great voice. It’s almost always all-vinyl, from Bob’s insane collection. The show became a must-listen in Nashville, a town unaccustomed to such carryings-on, and it’s now primed to become a part of your not-too-proud-to-be-surprised lives. Strap in and head to WFMU.org’s Rock ’n’ Soul Ichiban stream, every Monday from 8-10 pm EST!

  Mon. 8/27/18 8:01pm Andy R:

Hey, hey! Happy Monday to you too, Gina!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:01pm bigplanetnoise:

Hi Jay! Hi Andy! Glad you guys are here!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:02pm Mailman Tom:

Hi Bob! Hi Gina! I've got to ask: why the rerun instead of a new show?
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:02pm bigplanetnoise:

Big stack o' Brit 45s!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:02pm Snayle:

Hello Planeteers ! Hi Bob & NYC Gina! Blast off took me by surprise !
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:03pm bigplanetnoise:

Hey Mailman Tom - Gina is up in the Big Apple, I was down in Alabama.... back to all new stuff next week!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:04pm Mailman Tom:

That explains it. Thanks!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:04pm Jay S.:

These shows are always worth another listen
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:04pm bigplanetnoise:

Hi Snayle! ❤️
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:05pm bigplanetnoise:

Yeah - this was like our third or fourth Ichiban show - you'll hear how "reserved" we sound! Hahahahaha
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:05pm Gina Bacon:

Hi Jay! Hey Andy! Hi Mailman Tom! Hello, Snayle!!!
Mon. 8/27/18 8:09pm Tim from LH:

Hello everyone, hope you guys enjoy your vacations. So every show you are spinning the records and announcing live ? Not sure how it works on the ichiban stream.
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:10pm bigplanetnoise:

Hey Tim - this show is pre-recorded. We're rolling the old show, but we're here in real-time in the chat, and we're posting the show's songs live!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:10pm Gina Bacon:

Hi Tim from LH!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:12pm bigplanetnoise:

It takes about 26-28 hours to put every show together, if you can believe that... so, a little breather every now and then is ... needed!!!!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:12pm Snayle:

Hi Big Apple Gina ! Hi A'Bama Bob ! <3 Happy Monday One and All ! Happy to hear a retro show! So many cool bands and tunes in that era !
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:12pm Gina Bacon:

I'm glad we can still be here with y'all! The wonders of technology! (:
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:13pm Andy R:

Hearing this all Invasion show again is A'OK with me!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:13pm bigplanetnoise:

Gina's still in Manhattan, and I'm in Nashville, sweltering!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:13pm bigplanetnoise:

Thanks Andy!!! Yeah - it feels all-new to me, too!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:14pm Snayle:

How many other bands can you name that wind into that Attraction sound... like 600 ? :p
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:15pm bigplanetnoise:

That's so true, Snayle!!!
Mon. 8/27/18 8:15pm Tim from LH:

It’s cool! British Invasion might be my favorite of all genres. Do you think it has all been discovered or do you think there is more out there to be unearthed?
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:16pm Snayle:

Don't worry Bob, we've turned up the heat here in NYC too so Gina can re-enter the Nashvegas atmosphere with ease... :D
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:16pm bigplanetnoise:

Thanks, Tim! Yeah - it's def one of my faves, too. i think there's always stuff to unearth - just when you think it's all out there, boooom - more is discovered!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:17pm Gina Bacon:

Haha...it's true! back to hot and steamy today...just in time!!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:17pm Gina Bacon:

Feels new to me, too.
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:17pm bigplanetnoise:

Mockingbirds is Graham Gouldman's first band. Gosh - even the writing when he was THIS young.... wow.
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:18pm Snayle:

Wow, that Graham shore was a pretty talented kid... dang !
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:20pm bigplanetnoise:

I think there should be a twelve-hour Brit Invasion marathon at some point on Ichiban.... Can we do that?
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:20pm Andy R:

I could listen to UK tracks all day long! I'm down with this.
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:21pm Snayle:

YESSSS Go For It !!!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:22pm Jay S.:

Turn it into Wonderful Radio London for a day
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:24pm bigplanetnoise:

Radio London for a day! Love it.
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:25pm bigplanetnoise:

But everyone will be all uptight if I play a full hour of Freddie & the Dreamers???!!?!?!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:25pm Jay S.:

Fine with me, every new one I hear I like
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:27pm bigplanetnoise:

I know they were incredibly goofy, but I still love 'em. AND - who else do you know that has an open-ended interview disc of Freddie & the Dreamers from 1964?!?!?!?! I CAN EVEN INTERVIEW THEM on All-Day-Radio-London!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:28pm Jay S.:

HA! That's fantastic!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:30pm Snayle:

What a great idea Bob !!! We can do the Freddie all day and all of the night ! (opps sorry Ray) ! How long is that '64 convo disc? Gosh I remember when we did some discs like that with answers from said artist so DJ's could say they interviewed...so n so.. Ha! So, if Freddie &TD's can fill a whole hour, who else would fill the remaining ?
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:31pm bigplanetnoise:

I'd give you 11 hours of other cool Brits!!!!!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:33pm Snayle:

If you need someone to count on, count me in !
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:33pm bigplanetnoise:

My fave Troggs cut... such gnarly guitar!
Mon. 8/27/18 8:34pm Tim from LH:

A full hour of Freddie might be pushing it to limit, but Freddie in small doses like that one sounds fine!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:34pm Gina Bacon:

I really love this one too.
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:34pm Andy R:

I found this great Fontana LP release a few months ago of "British Invasion Hits." Even comes with a fold out Union Jack!
Mon. 8/27/18 8:35pm Tim from LH:

The Troggs rule!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:35pm bigplanetnoise:

Hmmmm... a full hour of Freddie.... I wonder if folks would be intrigued, or if they'd run for the hills.....
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:35pm bigplanetnoise:

Andy - is that the one with the super cute girl on the cover?
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:37pm Andy R:

It is!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:37pm bigplanetnoise:

That's a great comp!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:38pm Andy R:

Yeah, found it in a Knoxville antique shop. Couldn't resist it!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:39pm bigplanetnoise:

Yeah - I heard you scored there! Awesome.
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:41pm bigplanetnoise:

Killer guitar-tone all over this show, i say....
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:42pm Daffodil2:

I just tuned in and what do I hear -- Chad & Jeremy! Thank you, Bob! ;)
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:42pm Snayle:

Strings and horns complete the Britis Invasion sound... everytime!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:42pm bigplanetnoise:

Perfect timing, Daffodil! ❤️
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:43pm bigplanetnoise:

Yeah, Snayle - I ain't afraid to play no strings and horns, dammit!!!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:43pm Daffodil2:

I was just thinking of requesting them! You read my mind!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:43pm Gina Bacon:

Hi Daffodil2!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:43pm bigplanetnoise:

Jimmy Page - killin' it!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:51pm Andy R:

Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:52pm Gina Bacon:

Hahaha...this is so great!!!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:52pm bigplanetnoise:

Talk about a wall o sound....
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:53pm Daffodil2:

Just read that the Chad & Jeremy song "Only for the Young" was written by Jim Seals of Seals & Croft.
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:53pm Daffodil2:

Oh my God! What an intro!!!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:54pm Daffodil2:

Yardbirds introducing Bob & Gina! Can't beat that!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:54pm bigplanetnoise:

Seals was a writing machine back then. Signed to Four Star as a writer - cranking them out in style, like a West Coast Brill Building writer!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:55pm Daffodil2:

Jimmy Page!!
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:56pm Jay S.:

Seals was in Southwest F.O.B., correct?
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:56pm bigplanetnoise:

No, Jay. That was Dan Seals, later of England Dan and John Ford Colley!
Mon. 8/27/18 8:57pm Tim from LH:

A little Revenge in there from The Kinks debut album?
  Mon. 8/27/18 8:57pm Jay S.:

Oh, thanks!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:57pm bigplanetnoise:

Yeah - cause Page played on THAT one, too!!!
Mon. 8/27/18 8:58pm Tim from LH:

Rhythm guitar only!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:58pm Daffodil2:

Steve & Muff Winwood! And great piano!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:59pm bigplanetnoise:

Let's hear it again for a 12-hour Brit marathon??? I think I really want to do it.....
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 8:59pm bigplanetnoise:

Why do I talk myself into these things????
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:00pm Daffodil2:

I'm all for that!
  Mon. 8/27/18 9:00pm Jay S.:

Do it, why not?
Mon. 8/27/18 9:00pm Tim from LH:

I’m sure Matt Clarke will agree!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:00pm bigplanetnoise:

I figure it'll only take me 234 hours to put it together....
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:01pm bigplanetnoise:

Hmmmm.... maybe I could get Mr. Clarke to do it with me! 6+6!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:03pm bigplanetnoise:

More Pagey guitar!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:04pm Daffodil2:

LOVE this! Joe Cocker -- what a voice!
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:04pm bigplanetnoise:

Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:06pm bigplanetnoise:

Thanks, Daffodil! Instead of advanced algebra class, I was out hunting for Brit 45s with my girlfriend in the 70's.....
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:07pm Daffodil2:

I totally believe that, Bob! ;)
Mon. 8/27/18 9:07pm Tim from LH:

My brother was at that Led zep/ Cocker show. Same weekend as Woodstock.

  Mon. 8/27/18 9:20pm Jay S.:

Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:21pm bigplanetnoise:

We could easily do a mighty, mighty hour of that 12 hour Brit Block on the DC5....
  Mon. 8/27/18 9:25pm Snayle:

More strings n things ! Have always Loved this hum along song...
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:25pm bigplanetnoise:

This was the first version...
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:29pm bigplanetnoise:

Whew... the man could sing.
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:29pm bigplanetnoise:

One of the top ten voices ever???
Avatar Mon. 8/27/18 9:30pm Gina Bacon:

I'll say.
