Our brass-tastic annual collaboration with NY's beloved brass and street band extravaganza, the HONK NYC! Festival, returns to WFMU's Monty Hall Thursday night October 11th. This year's spectacular spectacle features no less than five bands:

• The L Train Brass Band - https://www.facebook.com/ltrainbrass - fabulous new faces on the HONK! scene;

• Nation Beat - https://www.facebook.com/nationbeatmusic - brassily bridging the sounds of Brazil and NOLA with Brooklyn flair!

About Cocek! Brass Band:

Cocek! Brass Band consists of Sam Dechenne (trumpet/vocals/composer), Ezra Weller (flugelhorn), Clayton DeWalt (Trombone), Jim Gray (Tuba) and Grant Smith (Tappan Drum). A 5-piece ensemble from Boston, MA playing all original compositions. The music is influenced by Eastern-European and New Orleans dance songs, Afrobeat, Klezmer and elements of reggae and Western classical pieces.

Cocek! Brass Band has two original albums out - Round Two is the latest - remix album, and they've been releasing a song-a-month online in 2018, many accompanied by original illustrations. Check out the monthly songs at https://www.cocekbrassband.com/monthlyrelease.
