I was in a restaurant last night, adjacent to a 30ish couple and their 3- or 4-ish daughter who was being clownish. The couple were trying to shush her. I just kept smiling at the munchkin. It was a noisy place anyway.

Visiting any place where there is low gravity would be amazing. However, the current suit you have to wear in space in general to protect you from all of the cosmic radiation and just the effect of that radiation on anyone’s body for a sustained period of time even with the current suit technology makes a visit cool but living there a risky proposition.

Thanks Amanda! My eight-year-old daughter Addie and I discovered your show on a random Tuesday night in July. We listen to Wake with Clay Pigeon in the mornings so when we went to set her clock radio we found children’s music on WFMU?!? I was so happy to find your show on in the perfect spot Saturday morning! Of course, my daughter is binging on cartoons as is her immortal right on Saturday mornings, however throughout the rest of the weekend we enjoy the show. Thanks to you and thanks to the archives!

There needs to be more songs about rollerskating. A few weeks ago, I went to a roller disco (partially as a volunteer staff member then went for a skate afterwards). They never play The New Pornographers' "Valkyrie in the Roller Disco". :-(

Great question. We are so new that we don't have our own DJ premiums yet! But there are two beautiful new shirts on offer just for this fundraiser (repping all of WFMU), and you are eligible for premiums (shirts, CDs, etc) from earlier this year. I did a CD of underground audio inspired by the Simpsons.

about hiccups: since I figured that when I get them, I go insane with anger the more I try to stop them right away -and "with force" almost- , I started trying to develop an "automatized reaction" and let the body do its thing. the moment it starts, I consciously tell my brain not to pay attention to it (so I might start talking to someone or immerse myself in doing another activity) until I forget about it (unconsciously. like what happens when you go to sleep and forget how you did that), all the while breathing deeply (but not necessarily forcefully) through the nose. That last part is what I trained myself to do automatically each time I got them, until it became my body's go-to reaction, without me having to think about it. Voilà :)

Fortunately when I became a swag for life listener I got the Sputnik shirt as well as the Wake one, which I love and probably wear too much.
