I've been hitting myself all day. I need this show.

Hey there Rich and Fabby Man!

Hello, Mr. F!
Avatar 7:04pm
Mr Fab:

Hey gang! I always see those awful Jim Nabors albums but never buy em cuz he doesnt sing like Gomer.
Avatar 7:06pm
spacebrother:

I have this one. Only this one, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm
Rich in Washington:

OH. MY. GOD! This is almost Heino territory!
Avatar 7:08pm
spacebrother:

Exactly who I was thinking of!
Avatar 7:09pm
spacebrother:

Not quite creepy enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm
Rich in Washington:

It makes me think of Man in the High Castle (the book, not the TV show) for some reason.
Avatar 7:11pm
Mr Fab:

Wunderbar! Complete w gimmicky sound fx. As all good records should have.
Avatar 7:11pm
spacebrother:

:)

I love Telstar. Any, every version. I love how it's the leitmotif throughout Mr. Mike's Mondo Video.
Avatar 7:13pm
spacebrother:

I WORSHIP Mr. Mike and Mondo Video

Rich in Washington:

Oh god. This is fantastic!

Rich in Washington:

I have no idea how good their German is but it's amazing how good they sound in the German pop idiom.
Avatar 7:15pm
spacebrother:

My parents had one of their records when I was growing up. liked them early on.
Avatar 7:15pm
Mr Fab:

I had an album by the Peanuts, not having any idea that they were the same lil gals that sang in Mothra. A monster movie expert i worked with mentioned that factoid to my amazement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm
Rich in Washington:

The intersection of weird records and monster movies is an amazing one.
Avatar 7:18pm
spacebrother:

That could be a whole show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm
Rich in Washington:

This is so cool!
Avatar 7:20pm
spacebrother:

Just hung the mic over the soundbox.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Rich in Washington:

I need a turntable that can do 78 and 16 rpms. Casual listening to these formats is impossible for me. I have to rip 'em and convert speed digitally.
Avatar 7:21pm
Mr Fab:

Spacebrothers gonna have the only working record player after the apocalypse. Everyone will be coming to your bunker Greg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
Rich in Washington:

The fidelity was pretty good!
Avatar 7:23pm
spacebrother:

I found it in a thrift store in the desert. $130.
Avatar 7:31pm
spacebrother:

You can probably find a turntable in a pawn shop or if you're lucky, a thrift store.
Avatar 7:32pm
spacebrother:

...with the all-important 16/ 78 speeds.
Avatar 7:32pm
Mr Fab:

I tracked down a copy of this Vietnamese Ghost Riders after hearing it on the oh-so-proper Tom Schnabel show on KCRW. guess it was considered "World music." Exotica by another name is still...
Avatar 7:33pm
spacebrother:

Always hated that guy. I called him "Tom Snowball"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm
Rich in Washington:

I'm not familiar with that show or host, living outside the area, but we used to have this very snooty program in my city. This guy would play a high-fallutin' World Music song, then would go off on these long reminiscences about having traveled to this country, this city, all about himself, then would play a song, repeat. It was all about what an erudite, tasteful world traveler he was. It was kind of awful in an almost amusing way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
Rich in Washington:

Every time I think I have at least HEARD of every Moog record, there's another one I haven't.
Avatar 7:41pm
Mr Fab:

Ooh, that Bumblebillies song is an exclusive! When fundraiser comes around (in 6 months or so) that would be a good track for a premium CD.
Avatar 7:44pm
spacebrother:

There were SOOO many of those moog albums. Like Walter Brennan records.
Avatar 7:44pm
spacebrother:

I have recordings of lot of those Guitar Geek performances.
Avatar 7:44pm
spacebrother:

So, sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Rich in Washington:

I wish Walter Brennan did a Moog record.
Avatar 7:45pm
Mr Fab:

Sounds like Schnable all right, Rich. He likes to mention how he studied in Paris, for example. I actually found an old issue of Down Beat with a letter he sent in about how he didnt get late
-period Coltrane. NPR, lol.
Avatar 7:48pm
spacebrother:

He probably DID do one.
Avatar 7:48pm
Mr Fab:

Mrs Fab was just asking me this morn about Phil Spectors production of "Let it Be." Did he wave a gun at the Beatles? I dont even think he was in the studio with em.
Avatar 7:48pm
spacebrother:

I think he messed it up after the master tapes were done.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Rich in Washington:

Is that Phil doing the spoken bit? I've had this for years as an MP3 (thanks to Kogar!) and had no idea he was connected to this.
Avatar 7:49pm
spacebrother:

That Wall Of Sound shit ruined the record, IMHO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
Rich in Washington:

yeah! It's kinds sonically squashed. I guess you gotta go all in for the wall of sound thing or it just collapses.
Avatar 7:51pm
spacebrother:

Yes, it was Spector. As far as I know.
Avatar 7:52pm
spacebrother:

I think if Spector waved a gun at the Beatles, a flunky would have strangled him.
Avatar 7:52pm
Mr Fab:

Yep, i believe that was the Phil-thy one hisself "singing."

McCartney agrees w you greg. Remember he reissued it a few years ago minus the big production?
Avatar 7:53pm
spacebrother:

Yeah. I have that one. It's a vast improvement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
Rich in Washington:

Wow! The hits keep a' comin'!
This is amazing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
Rich in Washington:

My wife freaks out everytime Bab's version of this song pops up on our virtual jukebox.
Avatar 7:55pm

I'm amazed I can keep a pro like you entertained!
Avatar 7:57pm

Man, the show just gets better and better. wonderful job Greg.

Me too. It's like heaven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm

Thanks, Spacebrother! See you on the flip-flop, Mr. Fab! Thanks for steering the ship!
Avatar 7:58pm

Yes thanks! Laters!
Avatar 7:59pm

I really enjoyed that one.
