I went through, somewhat still challenged by, occasionally being influenced/intimidated/inspired by what others are playing here, but now it's more inspired - I don't quite worry as much about repeating what others are playing or playing something that's a bit of an outlier, etc.
I think we're all doing a good job of just being us.

Otis, if you're looking for modern country that kinda has that bad-livin' vibe, you might like some Old Crow Medicine Show stuff. I've added some of their songs to the stream, like the self-explanatory "Methamphetamine." And Ministry actually has a country spin-off called Buck Satan and his 666 Shooters.

I have this weird inhibition about buying kiddie records for some reason. It has to really be worth the weird looks I get from Goodwill clerks. I don't know why I care.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

I seem to remember a trippy illustration about safely crossing the street where the kid's face was a blur showing him looking in both directions.
Avatar 4:27pm
Otis Fodder:

The look from the clerks will either be comical or in full frustration because you snagged it before them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm
Rich in Washington:

I've only had that experience at this weird rehab/xtian thrift store. I would say easily 95% of the records were awful christian records but an occasional weird record, but no rock n' roll.
I found a really clean copy of Sgt. Pepper's and took it up and the addled, aging wannabee punker christian pastor guy who ran the store practically jumped that I had it - like he couldn't believe it had somehow gotten past him and into the bins. He clearly wanted it and even seemed to try to contrive some way of denying me buying it. It was hilarious.
