Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from December 14, 2018 Favoriting

Rich in Washington's avatar View Rich in Washington's profile Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Asheville Jon:

wow, getting an early start. i should try that sometime. i usually start about 5:30pm on the 24th, at whatever store is still open.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm
Rich in Washington:

Last time I went out on Xmas eve, I was so frantic I got a migraine, yet had to push on, then, on the way up the steps at home, slipped on the stairs and broke my foot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm
Asheville Jon:

that doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
i've had a stress headache for about a week now. it'll probably go away by new years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm
Rich in Washington:

Hope people aren't sick of Pete Shelley/Buzzcock tributes yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm
Rich in Washington:

Wow. Big wind storm up here. Hope I can stay with you all!
Avatar 7:06pm

Good old fashion clock alarm music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm

@coelacanth∅: Glad you could make it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm

Maxell XL-IIS 100 takes care of that problem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm

Hi Don-O! loved your show today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm
Asheville Jon:

damn, haven't heard this in a long time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm
Rich in Washington:

yay! Freshness!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm
coelacanth∅:

(this one written by Diggle)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm
coelacanth∅:

...one of the best songs on the album, and Shelley kills the vox of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm
Rich in Washington:

Is it? I digglen't know that. I even played a few Devoto-sung songs on my little tribute on last night's KBOO show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
coelacanth∅:

So Good! i've been hoping someone would play this one.
Avatar 7:21pm
Mr Fab:

yeah, Shelley's death was a shock. Just out of the blue. one of The Greats. "Orgasm Addict" is a perfect record. I even recently listened to all of the "Homosapien" which I hadn't done since I was a teenager.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
Rich in Washington:

Heya Fab! It was indeed. I need to get that LP. I've only just had the single for many years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Rich in Washington:

These Royal Master Records are sort of painful. The worst of Song Poem records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
Asheville Jon:

hey Rich, you gonna do any kind of really bad truck drivin' music program?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Rich in Washington:

I probably could! My dad was a trucker when he was really young. It's in my blood!
Avatar 7:35pm
Mr Fab:

I have a few Royal Master albums, some of which I posted on my old blog. This collection of all dead-Elvis tributes can still be had here:
blog.wfmu.org...
And yep, backing tracks were recycled
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
Asheville Jon:

nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
Rich in Washington:

I think I remember you posting that, Mr. F! I'll check it out again. Sure like the song poem thing. It's the pathos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
Rich in Washington:

This is cringingly long now. Lots of great sampleable bits in it, but maybe kind of long for casual listening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Rich in Washington:

Weren't we just talking about Beatles covers/skewerings next door?
Avatar 7:44pm
Mr Fab:

Nice to hear ol' Marlin. Used to watch his show every week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Rich in Washington:

Me too. Not sure why. I remember watching it with my dad and we'd sort of riff on it, MST style.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
Rich in Washington:

I found this record in a thrift store along with a bunch of Pilipino rock and pop records, but I only bought this for some reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
Rich in Washington:

argh. my spelling.
Avatar 7:48pm
Mr Fab:

Thurston Magoo III!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Asheville Jon:

hot damn. haven't heard this in a super long time! delicious!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
Rich in Washington:

Why is this record paced so slow? It's like a chipmunks record played at 33. I've always found that really peculiar. I don't have a turntable that will play 78, unfortunately, or I'd do it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
Rich in Washington:

I will play more of this amazing record on a future show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
Asheville Jon:

holy cow. why do the best shows on FMU only last one hour and go by SUPER FAST!??!?!?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Rich in Washington:

I'm glad you liked it, Asheville Jon! Thanks for the kind words! Tell your friends!
Avatar 7:56pm
Mr Fab:

It did fly by. Thanks again Rich, catch ya on the flippy flop. Whatever the hell that means.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm
Rich in Washington:

It's taking me a while to get used to doing an hour show. I just get heated up and it's time to land. But I like it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Mr. Fab! Thanks everybody for listening! We'll see you next week! I think I may do a Christmas show. Your only warning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm
Rich in Washington:

Wow. The lights are flickering here. Just made it, huh? Big huge windstorm in progress.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
Rich in Washington:

out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
Asheville Jon:

be safe Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm

(belated) Thanks Rich!

Wow, Retrovirus & Oppertunistic Inflection! Haven't heard that in years, even I don't have a copy of that. And Smart Girls (you played it!) and thanks for more ELOfanboyland + that incredibly old BF cut. Rawk!
Avatar 6:07pm
Otis Fodder:

Oops, sorry 2 windows open, ignore last comment was meant for Don-O's show I'm listening to now. DOH!
