"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

@rfm - holy shit! I can't believe you saw them at their prime. Was it awesome? I love how they merged hard rock with synths in just the right spots. It's kind of too bad they got so damn cheesed out in the 80's.
  10:47am
randyfrommichigan:

@chromaphone yes it was awesome ... imagine being 17 years ago and seeing Nancy do the guitar intro to Crazy On You ... hearing Ann sing live, etc. I saw them live every time I could until the '80's, I couldn't stand that cheese either. And I've gone to see them many times recently too, they still sound great. Got to see them do Stairway to Heaven with Jason Bonham Experience a few years ago (they were the opener), that was another huge highlight!!

I saw Redd Kross on Monday night and they opened with an original Christmas song. It was super poppy and happy. Basically a great Redd Kross song.

@chromaphone And my son is learning that he needs to see the remaining artists while he can, so he has gone to Steely Dan, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Rush etc. all in the last few years ... so he will have some good stories when he gets older too!

I ate mistletoe berries when I was tiny. I don't remember much from my childhood but I do remember getting a ride to the hospital where they made me vomit into a pan!

Anyway I survived.

i heard some of them in the 60s then on a radio special in the 70s or 80s called "beatles at the beeb". i recorded some of it but i didn't have much blank cassette space at the time.
more recently i got them all from youboob. 'probably been taken down by now though.
