I used to have a pachinko machine, and I particularly love stuff that sounds like music from the '60s, but is more recent.

"Baby Let Me Bang Your Box" was covered by adult film actress and erotic dancer Robin Byrd as the theme song for her public access TV show in Manhattan — 80's and 90's era...

inturist is the name of the Soviet hotels that were exclusively for visiting foreigners, to keep them separated from locals. it was also a tourist agency type service for soviets who were able to make arrangements for trips outside of the Soviet bloc
Avatar 4:05pm

The track is pronounced "Moozhcheena Moyego Otza" and the album sounds like " Komandeerovka"

The band name "Normal Brain" must come from the Abby-Normal brain bit from Young Frankenstein

Damn you guys are coming w/ the facts today! Interesting stuff re: public access & Russia. and who doesn't love Young Frankenstein? Not this guy.

I gave a copy of Young Frankenstein to my kid to give to a neighbor kid for his birthday. Later, my wife said, "I heard someone gave Jared Young Frankenstein for his birthday. Who gives a 7 yr old a movie like that?"

Does anyone know if Marc Almond was aware of The Screamers when Soft Cell first started?
  4:36pm
rw:

Thanks tim! It was probably a little inappropriate but what the hell. My thinking was not far from yours. It was a while ago. The kid turned into a mild degenerate but I think that may have more to do with his controlled childhood than anything else. His dad also died after a long bout with cancer which was very sad and impactful I'm sure.

Oh! And speaking of The Screamers, I had a brief email exchange with Tommy Gear the other day.

Aw, I missed Get Out Of My House. A friend would always play that at the end of his basement shows.

They were contemporary really. Some of this stuff is from '78. Certainly into Suicide, as we'll soon find out. You can def hear the kinship he had with Throbbing Gristle on this stuff.
