Jan Turkenburg:

Starting off with fly me to the moon, of course!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I believe this was one of the first songs I learned from the RB
  4:04pm
Martinibomb:

@Jan! Same here - -I love this track-- btw you familiar with Water Melon Group? It's the folks from the Japanese synth band the Plastics
Avatar 4:04pm
Mr Fab:

Are those bleeps in the original recording?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
Jan Turkenburg:

@MB, doesn't ring a bell, righ away
  4:05pm
Martinibomb:

All the songs I'm playing today are things I can play on piano. No those bleeps are not in the original. I couldn't find my copy and really wanted to play it.. All i could find was a bad copy on youtube with the bleeps unfortunately
Avatar 4:07pm
Mr Fab:

Well, I loved The Plastics, so i'll be looking for that one.
Avatar 4:08pm
Mr Fab:

the bleeps made it kinda funny
  4:08pm
Martinibomb:

I'm a huge fan of the Plastic so yeah you need to pick up Water Melon Group.. very interesting stuff and very Sheenas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I'll dig into it!
  4:12pm
Martinibomb:

these are samples of my piano teacher from his youtube. hah he played with Dizzy
Avatar 4:18pm
Mr Fab:

There will be a quiz at the end of the show.
  4:18pm
Martinibomb:

Can you name all the different types of Chords? I bet Jan can.
Avatar 4:19pm
Mr Fab:

Uh oh...someone didn't ask you to play "Misty" for them, did they?
  4:24pm
Martinibomb:

hah nope but it's in my repertoire so I played it
  4:25pm
Martinibomb:

I haven't seen that film in ages.. I kinda wanna see it again now
Avatar 4:29pm
Mr Fab:

the "Fatal Attraction" of the '70s.
  4:29pm
Martinibomb:

I wonder who would be good to cast if they remade it today?
  4:34pm
Martinibomb:

Art Tatum kills me everytime he plays soooo fast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm
Rich in Washington:

Just have Clint and Jessica reprise their roles. It's hard to date when you're near 80. And he's the average age of a community radio guy now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm
Rich in Washington:

He can wear a greek fisherman's hat and host his jazz program, fall asleep while back-announcing.
Avatar 4:47pm
Mr Fab:

I wrote a parody of "Autumn n New York" once:
Autumn in LA
is pretty much like the summer
Autumn in LA
there's Schwarzenegger in his Hummer

and so forth
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm
Rich in Washington:

That's brilliant, Mr. F!
  4:50pm
Martinibomb:

Hahah! That's just great
  4:50pm
Martinibomb:

Maybe we should team up and record your version????
Avatar 4:50pm
Mr Fab:

that's funny Rich. But wouldn't an 80-something guy WANT a stalker?
Avatar 4:52pm
Mr Fab:

Ha, I'll have to dig out the lyrics
  4:52pm
Martinibomb:

I haven't seen play misty since I was a kid and I back then I didn't understand there was a song.. I thought she was pretending to be someone name misty? i was confused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
Rich in Washington:

Yeah, that's part of the fun. He wants to be stalked. It's a whacky Roadrunner vs Wiley Coyote dynamic. With Rascal scooters and metamucil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm
Rich in Washington:

I have a radio spot for it. I need to send it to you, Fab. It's got Paul Frees doing the narration.
  4:56pm
Martinibomb:

You're making me want to start working up a script for this. This sounds like my kinda movie
Avatar 4:57pm
Mr Fab:

Oh cool! Paul Frees is well repped in the Sheena stream.
  5:07pm
Martinibomb:

I've been thinking about doing a mix of youtube pianists - lots of nutty covers. Just wanted to get though the ascap thing we're in the middle of.
Avatar 5:09pm
Mr Fab:

Aww..our daughter's named Stella, so got a soft spot for this song
  5:11pm
Martinibomb:

I love that name too! Good choice!
  5:12pm
Martinibomb:

There's a cool underage jazz/pizza place by my house and saw this teen just wailing on the piano on Stella he also brought a small synth and was killing it on that.
  5:15pm
Martinibomb:

I meant keys not chords in the Circle of 5ths.
  5:17pm
Martinibomb:

man I was off yesterday.. jeez I said Coltrane when I meant Miles Davis
Avatar 5:31pm
Mr Fab:

Everyone's so deep in their cocktails they didn't notice
Avatar 5:34pm
Mr Fab:

"a cool underage jazz/pizza place" - still trying to wrap my head around that concept. My daughter would love that place. She has announced to me that she loves jazz, cool jazz in particular.
  5:36pm
Martinibomb:

It's really fantastic because it gives young musicans a place to play and they make great pizza. Its pretty great. I love it over the holidays because all the college kids come back and stop in and play
Avatar 5:41pm
Mr Fab:

If you're still taking piano bar requests, howzabout "Round Midnight"? That Monk just reminded me
  5:43pm
Martinibomb:

Sure! I'm just getting back into practicing again.. I'll add it to my routine I dig all monk's stuff.. he's kinda where I started with Jazz
  5:50pm
Martinibomb:

I might bust out my 78 collection next week? I don't have anything valuable but there are many fun songs and 78 recors have an interesting sound
Avatar 5:52pm
Mr Fab:

yeah, i love the spooky sounds of 78s. Spacebrother Greg of "Stop hitting Yourself" will be offering a CD of recordings of his 78s for his pledge drive premium.
  5:57pm
Martinibomb:

A friend who worked at a record store that was closing down gave me a huge pile of 78s they were getting rid of. I still haven't been through all of them. It's a large amount.
Avatar 5:57pm
Mr Fab:

i have a few, but nuthin to play em on..
  5:58pm
Martinibomb:

those Numark portaplayers also play 78s. I used to use two of those to DJ them out at parties.. i'd bring em out for birthdays etc.. people love it
Avatar 5:59pm
Mr Fab:

Really dug these cool sounds for a very cool (rainy, windy) day here. Thanks, Martinibomb!
  6:00pm
Martinibomb:

i pronounced jobim wrong oops gotta work on that.
  6:02pm
Martinibomb:
