Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from April 5, 2019 Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Hi Otis!
Thanks for tuning in!

Mr Fab:

I literally just added this show to the schedule mere hours ago. The internet at Chez Fab pooped out so i went to the mall with my laptop and took advantage of the free wifi to add this show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm
Rich in Washington:

hiya, Fab! Really? That's cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm

You're welcome Rich, tho it's really for my own personal selfish reasons - I love these shows!

WHOO HOO! That's great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm
Rich in Washington:

The show gets weirder. I am inspired by something DJ GeorgyGirl brought up earlier in the week.
  7:20pm
Bryan Chandler:

Are you live?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Rich in Washington:

No. This is a recording. Even my comments are prewritten.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm
Rich in Washington:

We plan on going live soon, though.

Martinibomb:

I should do a full-on 70s show someday. It might happen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm
Rich in Washington:

That entire 25+ volume set of Super Sounds of the 70s was the soundtrack to my wife and I remodeling our kitchen/dining area a couple of summers ago. It was the only music we could agree on.
Avatar 7:27pm
Otis Fodder:

25 Volumes, wow. I had Driver's Seat on a K-Tel comp growing up. Still holds up, such a great cut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
Rich in Washington:

I have a bunch of K-Tel comps! They're great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Rich in Washington:

Super Bad and Right On! are my favorites.
Avatar 7:31pm
Otis Fodder:

I used to have those years back. Purged moving. Should startup a K-Tel/Ronco collection again and those Warner Loss Leader LPs.
Avatar 7:35pm
Mr Fab:

K-Tel's "Goofy Greats" change my life as a young 'un. Many years later, I saw the Cramps live, and the first two songs they played I originally knew from "Goofy Greats."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh yes. I see that one in thrifts occasionally. I should nab it.
Avatar 7:39pm
Otis Fodder:

Oh wow, I used to have this Jonas LP on vinyl, found it in a Seattle thrift.
Avatar 7:40pm
Don-O:

I got a couple of K-Tel's, though I will admit the sound quality pretty much stinks. I heard that Crown Records were so cheap that they use to press their records with a bit of paper in the vinyl mix. I suspect K-Tel did that with a bulk of their sides.
Avatar 7:42pm
Don-O:

I never had the nerve to get ALL 25 volumes of Rhino's 1970's set as my eardrums couldn't take all that bubblegum music. Still, the soul 70's sets were great, never had the chance to get them all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Rich in Washington:

I sort of want every LP from Organ Grinder Pizza I can get. I am not sure why, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
Rich in Washington:

I actually had a Venom record that was put out on K-Tel in the mid 80s. It was crap, in every way possible.
Avatar 7:44pm
Don-O:

....the smell of pizza?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
Uncle Michael:

Hey, hey..
Avatar 7:44pm

hmmm... more whistling...
Avatar 7:45pm
Don-O:

Is this the whistling organist?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
Rich in Washington:

Uncle Michael! Speak of the devil! I just mentioned you regarding those Sounds of the 70s comps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
Uncle Michael:

Oh yeah...I have those, I think.
Avatar 7:47pm
Otis Fodder:

So great, sounds like a new Mrs Miller album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
Rich in Washington:

You turned me onto them, via Hinky Dinky Time. Then a friend bought the whole set, then gave them to me. Their fantastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Uncle Michael:

I kid.
Avatar 7:49pm
Don-O:

The backing vocals makes that 'Snip Snip' track just pop!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Rich in Washington:

I initially thought Tiger Lillies was a female singer.
Avatar 7:50pm
Otis Fodder:

Love the Tiger Lillies. Ivor Cutler as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
Rich in Washington:

They're pretty visually arresting as well. Really interesting. Definitely an acquired taste. My friend and fellow KBOO DJ Kathy Fors turned me onto them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm
Rich in Washington:

I'm on an older Butthole Surfers kick lately.
Avatar 7:53pm
Mr Fab:

Tiger Lillies are so great. i was pretty obsessed with their song "Hamsters" there for a while. Which, if you've heard that song, will find that a kind of disturbing thing to admit in public.
  7:53pm
Martinibomb:

Oh man I want that Jonas Nordwall record! Nice score
Avatar 7:53pm
Otis Fodder:

Thanks Rich! Have a great weekend!

Thanks, grantbob!

Might have time to cram another song in. Let's see!

Sheena takes over the (virtual) wheels of steel all weekend long. The live Dj action picks up again Monday. with "Record Roulette Club" bringing you the crazy rock n roll Thankyouthankyouthankyou Sheena DJs
Avatar 7:56pm
grantbob:

You could just fill the end with a bunch of Fantomas tunes and see where Sheena cuts you off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm

Thanks for everything, Senor Fab!
