I collect library LPs, mostly from Selected Sound Library. I own several CDs and vinyl LPs of their stuff - My favourite label, you should dive deep into it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'll be hopping over when we do the hand-over! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
-Ken:

Today's Friendly Persuasion episode will also be broadcast on WFMU as Otis manages to be in two places at once! How does he do it?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Time travel! The power of whimsy! :-)
Avatar 2:20pm
Otis Fodder:

Viv - Love Selected Sound and an entire Library Show is a great idea. Putting it on my to-do-show list and when it comes about, I'll msg about getting you on for another segment showcasing Selected Sound. Georgy would for sure have a segment too!
Avatar 2:22pm
Archivist Vivian:

Otis - I'll send you some of my fav stuff from my personal collection.

I got into SSL for the electronic stuff. Germany knows how to do electronic music right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm

I would love to do a segment, Otis! I might have one or two library music albums here and there ;-)
Avatar 2:25pm

GeorgyGirl, how are you? xx
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm

I'm fine, my lovely!! Broadcasting as we speak! Paving the way for the lovely Otis :-) x
Avatar 2:27pm
Archivist Vivian:

Lovely! I'll be in and out as I wish to play some video games while I listen. I always turn the music off of my games so I can play my own music.
Avatar 2:27pm
Otis Fodder:

I'll get that rolling. Themed shows with segments. I like that idea. I have a few segments set aside for a second varied-genre show now, just need a couple more. Soooo, hint hint, anyone reading this and wants to submit 15min or so with you playing music and talking get in touch with me off chat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
-Ken:

Back in the 80's WFMU had a show called "Your World of Production Music." It was WFMU's only 30 minute long weekly show.
Avatar 2:30pm
Archivist Vivian:

Otis - I'll contact you later about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

We could do a chat over the weekend if you're free, Otis? :-) I'll buzz you later :-)
Avatar 2:37pm
Otis Fodder:

@Ken - I would love to hear that show. Who was the DJ, do you recall who produced the production music show? I ask as it would be fun to inquire to see if they would want to jump on for a guest spot here sharing and flashing back to that show?
Avatar 2:38pm
Otis Fodder:

@Georgy & @Viv - Chat yes, will be about over the weekend. However, on Sunday I will be at a cat convention. Yes, a day-long cat convention in Montreal. Slices of heaven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
-Ken:

That was me! haha We had a DJ who needed to leave 30 inutes early every week to catch a bus so I started playing 30 minutes of library/production music every week, and people really liked it. No tapes of it unfortunately but I still have lots of the records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Ken - I shall have to pick your brains for Hi-Waisted Modernists! :-)
Avatar 2:40pm
Otis Fodder:

@Ken - Why does that not surprise me? Ha! I'm going to msg you about guesting on the show here/doing a segment when I do a library show theme soon. Yes!

I might just call people too. I have numbers in my phone. Solicit for numbers. But yes, planing on setting up a Skype Number and having someone answer it (like good ol' screeners, like Nick). Or maybe I'll just play more Arthur Fucking Lyman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm

I saw Tiny Tim at a haunted house theme park on my tenth birthday, and every part of that memory brings me joy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm

@Brian I'd listen to that. Then again, I listen to 7 second delay
Avatar 3:18pm
Mr Fab:

A friend of mine had this Lyman album (with real life-size shrunken heads!) on his wall . I pleaded with him for it. He said he'd take my album of show tunes with Betty Page on the cover as a swap. We later saw the same album for $100. The Lyman cost $3. i demanded that he return it. Nope, a trade is a trade.

I've done time in radio jail. I let a clip of Peter Weller (talking about Wm Burroughs) say 'shit' before 10pm once. It was so casually dropped, I just plain missed it. Live and learn. Did three months. Was sort of greeted into the radio jail club at KBOO.

My understanding is that "safe harbor" isn't even anything concrete. It just means you can play things that are "indecent", but you still can't play anything "obscene". And what are the definitions of those terms? They're whatever they say they are at any given moment.
