I hear the flaw of the game of thrones books is they are not a T.V show, and the flaw of the T.V show is that its not a book. I couldn't get into the books, Martin's prose is kinda janked imo. I hope you enjoy the show though.

I just read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Novella is better, but the world/humanity of the Androids in the movie is more my style. Andriods in the book are kinda meh because he wants to do this whole parody/de-humanizing humanity thing rather than letting the andriods be human. Tears in Rain

Cmurtha, PKD and GRRM are both pulp writers which is shorthand for good plots, bad writing. Totally agree that the translation to screen can be an improvement. Key details can get lost in translation or left out entirely... or improved upon. GOT the TV show has all of the above.

@quasi I can get behind PKD though most of the time, I think its just I love the movie so much that the total shift in focus/tone of the book is jarring. Martin - I feel like from when I tried to get into him he's kinda like the comic book writer Dan Abnett, really good at setting up a character in a short time and exploiting that, but nothing else about GOT really clicked for me. I admire that he will murder his darlings (literally), but the conflict/his prose really just turned me off. Why GOT is the fantasy setting/novel of this decade is confusing to me, but maybe I'm just being a contrarian hipster.

@cmurth, I heaar ya. Blade Runner is def an improvement over the book. Other adaptations too. GOT as a whole fantasy thing, well yeah there's probably better stuff out there ripe for the adapting. "The Expanse" is actually kind of awesome.
