Avatar 6:12pm
cometothesunshine:

The other side of this single is so great! I paid quite a bit for this, but happy to have it now.
Avatar 6:17pm
cometothesunshine:

The Beauchemins gave it a good shot, and Bob Keane definitely gave them the full LA studio sound.
Avatar 6:19pm
cometothesunshine:

Phil Ochs here sounds better than if he was a member of Poco or the First National Band.
Avatar 6:20pm

This song - Dolly's Magic - has almost been on the show for the past two years. But my previous copy had a terrible scuff that was distracting. I still hear it in my head when it playes from this cleaner copy.
Avatar 6:28pm
mce1965:

This is great! Glad you got a scuff free copy

A sunshine pop song with Chicago in the title! Cool!
Avatar 6:43pm
cometothesunshine:

I have to say the fidelity of the singles on this week's show is particularly great
Avatar 6:47pm
mce1965:

A lower incidence of styrene?
Avatar 6:47pm
cometothesunshine:

no, styrene sounds great if it isn't beat. I think my latest formula of declicking is the best yet.
Avatar 6:50pm
mce1965:

This track was the one whose previous owner wasn't fond of the vocal?
Avatar 6:51pm

Avatar 7:02pm
cometothesunshine:

Avatar 7:03pm
mce1965:

well yeah
Avatar 7:06pm
cometothesunshine:

Maybe the tapes were returned to Monty Babson/Morgan?
  7:07pm
uptownjen:

Ok. Not at a computer to look all of this up, but did you say this album is German only? The Creation’s album was the same and from around the same time, I think. Any insight why only German full-length releases or was it just a coincidence?
Avatar 7:09pm
cometothesunshine:

The German's loved the obscure Freakbeat!
Avatar 7:10pm
cometothesunshine:

Producer Monty Babson thought the reason My Friend Jack was such a hit in Germany was because it was a march!
Avatar 7:18pm
mce1965:

Nice to hear this stuff in context.

uptownjen:

I can see why they’re a fave of yours, Andrew. My knowledge of them up to this point is limited, but I’m digging this!
Avatar 7:19pm

Yeah, pretty satisfying
  7:21pm
