Trans Am had a great run from Surrender To The Night through The Red Line. The other albums before and after were great too but those 4 records are the jam.

So is it possible someone like this was into 'LA Blues' by The Stooges - or is the world completely the other way around ??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm
tim from champaign:

That's a tough call, RRN. I know the riff to Funhouse was lifted from an Art Ensemble song. Despite Iggy's on-stage persona, he was a really smart dude and was aware of way out/avant garde music which may have inspired LA Blues.
Avatar 5:47pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sax - for starters. Iggy has said their tastes were sophisticated - & their abilities limited (& that's where it comes from). I still think Ron Asheton is under-recognized...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm

Agree about Ron. Williamson's guitar sound may have more informed the punk sound, but I prefer Asheton's style.
Avatar 5:56pm
Cheri Pi:

Hiya TfC!
Avatar 5:57pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

If a flame thrower were Music - it would be my fellow Scorpio - Williamson. I say his *starting point* (Deetroit engine in Idle) is Keef's absolute peak on 'Sympathy for the Devil' - but that's probly still too mild. But - he is conventional Rawk in that sense. Ron was Outside. I thin Greg Ginn had a really kewl way of going off-key too... I have a lot to learn...
Avatar 5:59pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yerkknow - not just another trying to be Hendrix - but Iggy knew the task was to create an original Suburban White 'Blues' that was true to themselves & expressive... Out. Interesting that Punk was basically the result...
