Thanks listener 126464 and all others for listening to the 2019 WFMU Female Rap Special which is the latest installment of the female rapper / emcee - aka femcee - - PTNOTR special focusing on all female emcees with mostly new 2019 tracks but a few earlier ones too from last year or recent years + one old school track to kick things off on the right foot - “Us Girls” - This show is being done from Waterford Ireland with Jim The Poet handling the engineering duties back in WFMU studios.

Way back three decades ago I first started doing female rap specials on the radio (on KALX) because back then I noticed a very uneven ratio of female to male rappers - Sadly that uneven ratio of females to their male counterparts has not changed much - maybe gotten worse - However there does seem to be a bit of a renaissance in femcees going on now in 2019 - some of which female rap talents will be showcased on today’s show - and since there are still quite a few new 2019 released female (new school femcee) tracks that I will not get to may have to play more next week here on F M U know

Avatar 7:49pm
Billy Jam:

obviously this is a subjective selection and am leaving out many of the popular on the radar rappers that get tons of exposure already - which is part of why am skipping most of them in favor of focusing on femcees who might only get 456 YouTube views to a Cardi B 45 million views - also some of the more pop female rappers are oversexualized and under lyrical skilled (not all but some) -
