Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm holland oats:

devo also had a film intro their shows, v cool
  12:25pm mrmikestandsir:

saw Talking Heads at Philadelphia Zoo.
Great show, goofy venue...
Avatar 12:27pm Carmichael:

Regarding Peter Fonda: "Fonda sang some, and in 1968 recorded "November Night", a 45-rpm single written by Gram Parsons for the Chisa label, backed with "Catch the Wind" by Donovan, produced by Hugh Masekela".
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:27pm tim from champaign:

The Seattle Zoo has shows. Some cools bands but EXPENSIVE.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Rich in Washington:

Ripping show today, Joe!
I have to admit that still get rather verklempt when I think all the original Ramones are gone.
  12:33pm KP in DC:

I saw B-52s and T-Heads on that tour

this show is killing it! disco high school... oy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm joe:

I think I remember a story of Johnny once giving Jimmy G from Murphy's Law a wrath of sh*t for spitting on stage.
Avatar 🎸 12:45pm David Shortell:

I remember that Clem Burke Ramones show. He cut an odd figure, in his buttoned white shirt and tie.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:50pm tim from champaign:

Subterranean Jungle is a very solid Ramones record.
  12:51pm Mark in Toronto:

Not Alan Arkin, but Alan Arkush.
Avatar 12:52pm SmokinJ:

This conversation is a delight! Thanks boys! Every Ramones show was like a religious experience! 8-)

  1:04pm mrmikestandsir:

hey Randy, talk about the rise of Ween at City Gardens
Avatar 🎸 1:05pm David Shortell:

I remember one Ramones show at C.G. that I arrived late for. As I entered, the dumb skinhead group Warzone was opening.
Had I come earlier, I would 've caught the first act--an unknown group Gentleman Jim Norton booked by the name of Goo Goo Dolls (I did catch them at a later C.G. show, opening for Uniform Choice).
Avatar 1:07pm editor_b:

Great interview but coming thru much more into right stereo channel than left. Feeling unbalanced! Like I'm on a ship listing to starboard!
  1:07pm Amy:

All these years later, I still get up and jump around when I hear "Homicide."
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:08pm tim from champaign:

Homicide!
  1:11pm Amy:

It's one of those songs that instantly transports me back in time.
Avatar 1:13pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

It was your fault Randy.
  1:13pm Amy:

Soul Asylum did hold the occasional grudge...
Avatar 🎸 1:15pm Hackensack Slim:

I was at Club Bene twice. Ramones in '88 and Pat Cooper in the late 70"s. (I think I had the Shrimp Scampi.)
Avatar 🎸 1:16pm David Shortell:

@Joe B
I was also at that Let's Active show (they were opening for TSOL). In recent years, I saw the Dex Romweber Duo play around the Jersey Shore a few times, not recognizing the Let's Active drummer from decades before! (Sara Romweber, may she rest in peace)
  1:18pm Amy:

Haven't heard Marah mentioned in about 10 years!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm joe:

Randy from what I understand you are not missing much having them come in.
  1:29pm mrmikestandsir:

this is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. First time I heard it I didn't realize that the signs weren't half a second long.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:29pm tim from champaign:

Ha! It's like the Venom dude is doing wrestling promos with Mean Gene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Ohhhh, that's where that Beastie Boys sample is from!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm joe:

I have a recording of one of the times I saw Henry Rollins do spoken word at City Gardens.
  1:31pm mrmikestandsir:

AwwRighhht!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Michael 98145:

... and 999 !
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Moonbase Alpha:

Absolutely amazing / hysterical / fun show - thank you and Chronos for making me laugh!
  1:42pm mrmikestandsir:

Regressive Aid!
Sim Cain & Andrew Weiss & Bill Tucker!
Avatar 1:45pm Hubig Pie:

Take my wife, please!
  1:48pm Amy:

The Replacements were capable of being the best band on the planet and the worst embarrassment ever on consecutive nights.
  1:50pm joe Melillo:

Venom ”... alright. .... Alright... Alright... Alright...

Only sober ‘mats maybe, was opening for Tom Petty at B Byrne

Andrew Weiss. Another disgruntled, former Sound Effects customer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I don't know if I ever saw The 'Mats perform sober(ish) except when I saw them a few years ago. (and I saw them a lot back in the day)
  1:52pm Amy:

Trust me, he had nothing on underneath.
  1:52pm Amy:

Oh, except a garter belt and stockings.
  1:55pm KP in DC:

I saw them in a Town known as Oyster Bay, Long Island
Avatar 1:55pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Hey Randy!
  1:58pm Amy:

@KP, I saw that show too! They were all grouchy, but the show was excellent, as I recall.
  1:59pm Kenny rotten:

I've seen the Mats perform many times and they could be both awful or fantastic. The Ritz, NYC February '86 was a great show.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:59pm tim from champaign:

This was such a cool interview! More please!
  1:59pm KP in DC:

All I remember is the mock hanging
  2:02pm Amy:

I was at that Ritz show, too. I saw them, well, a lot.
Avatar 🎸 2:02pm David Shortell:

I attended that 1984 Mats show the Rettmans opened up. I remember Westerberg regaling the small crowd with a rendition of "If I Only Had a Brain" and destroying his guitar at set's end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm joe:

I was at one of those Biafra spoken word shows. I think Doc Corbin Dart of the The Crucifux placed it too.
  2:03pm Kenny rotten:

Amy you described them perfectly. I saw them in '87 at the Beacon and they were atrocious.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Hoboken Jack:

Fantastic interview! Huge regret of mine, I was at high school in nearby Princeton Jct and was slightly too young/stupid to ever make it to City Gardens.
  2:06pm mrmikestandsir:

Butthole Surfers & Ween. Fire and flames!
  2:09pm mrmikestandsir:

Jeff Rusnak
Avatar 2:10pm WO Town Wick:

Great interview -- thanks Joe. Still cracking up about that Venom stage banter 20 minutes later. "We're playing New York next. Bigger place than this."
  2:14pm mrmikestandsir:

Jeff Rusnak is the photographer Randy was talking about. Jeff saw and shot and hundreds of shows through the years. Known by zillions from his years working at Trenton area record shops.
  2:15pm Sean from Iowa:

If it's about ska it's probably called "Pick It Up!""
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm joe:

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 21 - 7:30 PM - $ 10 TICKETS - "PICK IT UP - SKA IN THE 90'S " NARRATED BY TIM ARMSTRONG
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm steveo:

good to hear Randy today!
  2:16pm Sean from Iowa:

As in Q: "how many rude boys does it take to change a light bulb?"

A: "one to drop it and at least 3 others to shout Pick It Up!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Michael 98145:

thank you both
Avatar 2:17pm WO Town Wick:

Yeah, Todd, open up 4 more places.
  2:19pm KP in DC:

The only other time was a theater in Ny with Slim(?) on guitar. The earlier one was better, as bizarre as it was
Avatar 🎸 2:20pm David Shortell:

Kraft Foods made Green Jellö change their name to Green Jellÿ. Did the dessert manufacturer not make similar legal threats to Jello Biafra?
  2:24pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

Checking in from M St beach Joe!!
Avatar 2:24pm Joe B:

damn wish i was there Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Yes:

i need to check out this juliana hatfield album already
Avatar 2:28pm Joe B:

thanks everybody for tuning in! a little hectic, sorry for not responding to the comments
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm xtrakrispy:

Great interview with Randy. Thanks!
Avatar 2:31pm Snoochienucci:

nice stuff, really rocking the socks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm steveo:

socks yep, nice set
  2:38pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

I saw the Ramones at CG on a hot August might in 1998. Got pulled over by Lawrence Twp cops on the way home after driving the wrong way around a traffic circle. Officer looked at two shirtless, sweaty teens in the family station wagon, shook his head & muttered, “ get outta here.”
  2:38pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

Oops I meant 1988!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:43pm tim from champaign:

Hamburglers? Joe B with a snack attack!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:46pm tim from champaign:

I watched the American Experience Woodstock last night. Not one single mention of Sha Na Na! I say bullshit.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:46pm tim from champaign:

Where's Bowser?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Webhamster Henry:

It was fun hearing the WXPN Woodstock show in its original order and time - to hear Sha Na Na in the morning : followed by Jimi Hendrix!?!?
Avatar 🎸 2:47pm David Shortell:

The Zombies are playing tonight at the Ocean City Music Pier (825 Boardwalk, Ocean City, NJ).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm steveo:

did sha na na do an answer song to this?
Avatar 2:49pm Hubig Pie:

When does the Altamont anniversary remembrances start up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm steveo:

i'm going to steal a car in remembrance
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:52pm tim from champaign:

I think the Stones should do a 50th anniversary of Altamont but in preparation they should stop dying their hair about 2 months out, quit using geritol and their other maintenance meds. That will re-create the bad vibes for sure.
  2:52pm joe Melillo:

Bowser or Jocko years?

Fights break out.

Which side has the sticks and bear repellent?
Avatar 2:52pm Hubig Pie:

MIracle Mets!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm steveo:

@joe and the winner of that takes on hee haw?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm steveo:

apparently the knicks also won in 69
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm steveo:

um, possibly the 1970 part of 1969
  10:20pm Randy Ellis:

I had a blast with Joe Belock ! It was great to go back to the 80's - to when I first met Joe Belock. SO hard to squeeze all of the many stories into 2 hours with tuneage, too.
