I understand folks not want to be polarizing. It’s critical that we cultivate unity in our struggle to progress as humanity. What punk has taught me it’s that culture and music is political expression. So it’s impossible to pretend any space is a no politics zone. It could be that there aren’t personal positions being taken, that’s fine, I respect The DJ and WFMU for creating this space.
Clay contextualized the Slits as a feminist group. This SheilaB track is about girl power. There’s politics ALL in these songs. Are we ignoring that because it’s background noise. I doubt it.
