I've really enjoyed what I've heard, MB, and its all thanks to you!

Mr Fab:

ha, this is hysterical.
Round of applause, GG - digesting the entire novel down to those bit-sized bits alone must have been a fair amount of work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - especially as I'd originally planned for the focus to be the laboratory scene .... except that isn't in the book. I'd completely forgotten that the lab is in the movie, so I had a minor panic ;-)
Avatar 4:10pm
Mr Fab:

no "it'a alive, it's ALIVE!"? I read the book when i was a kid, don't remember the specifics, but yeah, Hollywood's "Frankenstein" was a whole other creation.

This is great, MB!

I remember seeing the two-part made-for-tv movie Frankenstein: The True Story and thinking it was true to the book. It sure wasn't either. Anybody see that?
Avatar 4:12pm
worldsworstrecords:

Has this been on a Rhino compilation? I'm sure I've heard it before somewhere
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm

Hello MB and All
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
Rich in Washington:

Michael Sarazzin as The Monster. Tom Baker as Dr. Polidori.
  4:13pm
Martinibomb:

thank GG! yes this is something a i rescued years ago and got onto a cdr only to loose it. Then a friend who I gave the only other copy to found his and here we are.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

@Rich I have a vague memory of that Frankenstein tv movie.
Avatar 4:13pm
worldsworstrecords:

OMG Rich - I've just looked that up. I hadn't realised it was written by ‎Don Bachardy and ‎Christopher Isherwood!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm
Rich in Washington:

@worldsworstrecords: There was a Numan parody called Bars in the 70s. I think it WAS on a Rhino comp or a Dr. Demento comp. I remember hearing it on his shows back in the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'll have to look into that! I love Michael Sarazzin
Avatar 4:14pm
worldsworstrecords:

I remember seeing it years ago - hadn't twigged
Avatar 4:15pm
worldsworstrecords:

That's probably the track I'm thinking of Rich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

I used to think David McCallum & Michael Sarazzin were "cute". Mind you, I was in jr high at the time. . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm
Rich in Washington:

It's on YouTube off and on. I remember rewatching it again a couple of years ago. It's not too bad for a MFTV production. A fair amount of gore. Jane Seymour gets her head ripped off by the jealous monster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
Rich in Washington:

Hi Hopey! In the film, the Monster/Sarazzin is quite handsome and then proceeds to rot away through the course of the movie. By the end he looks like one of the Rolling Stones. Pretty scary.
Avatar 4:17pm
worldsworstrecords:

That's a plus then :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh my god! This is fantastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm

Martinibomb:

Good evening GG and WWR!Thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm

I can just visualize this being on a crudely made cassette. And I DO mean that as a compliment.

The Phantom! I was just thinking of this track this morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm

Aww yeah, The Phantom!
Avatar 4:37pm
Mr Fab:

Ha, if I saw a record credited to "Rudy the Whistling Cuban," I would snatch that sucker up so fast you'd see a little dust cloud.
  4:43pm
Martinibomb:

@Fab I found that on youtube don't think he has any recordings but his whistlin' was pretty good and interesting so I had to play it

  4:50pm
Martinibomb:

@Hopey really? they sampled it or something? It sounded familiar to me too. @MrCrispy thanks for joining in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

@MB I've been listening to that Perry & Kingsley Kaleidoscopic Vibrations album since it came out, it's permanently embedded in my brain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

My father had a copy and as a child it fascinated me.
  5:01pm
Martinibomb:

The first intro was probably the electric light parade and I only heard it once totally stuck in my head and warped it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

Oh yeah, the electric light parade! I was so excited the first time I saw that and recognized the tune.

Avatar 6:42pm
Mr Fab:

Yeah, sorry Rich, I've emailed Ken twice, but I'll have to try it again. I know the man must get slammed with emails every day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
aratuk:

I keep meaning to check out your show on KBOO, especially since I live in Portland! Aside from being FCC-friendly, how would you say it differs from your WFMU show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
Rich in Washington:

No worries, Fab! It's also the drive, so there's that. I'm in no hurry. Thanks!
Avatar 6:44pm
Mr Fab:

So I just came back from Court, applying for community service for a parking ticket (yes, that's how expensive parking tickets have become) and they said I could do a few hours working at a Goodwill thrift store!! Oh, the punishment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

Mr. Fab: oh how dreadful! whatever shall you do?!?!? hee hee
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Rich in Washington:

@aratuk: I am usually tireder and less coherent, but I'm more prone to longish studio mixes. The two hours gives me more time to spread out the incoherence and increase listener confusion. And an irate caller accused me of being a Crowley worshipping satanist bent on driving late night listeners insane, so I have a lot to live up to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm
Rich in Washington:

@Mr. Fab: Hopefully you can at least score some records while you're there. Hopefully you can serve your sentence AFTER Halloween, as Goodwill tends to fill up with annoying people who never go to thrift stores looking for cheap costumes. Amateurs, all of them.
  6:50pm
Martinibomb:

@MrFab your story reminds me of Brer Rabbit and the briar patch
Avatar 6:52pm
Mr Fab:

That's so funny MB, I was thinking the exact same thing. "Please no, not the thrift store, anything but the thrift store!"
  6:56pm
Martinibomb:

Okay getting ready to wrap it for another week. Thanks everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm
Rich in Washington:

Great show, MB! Glad to be able to tune in for most of it. My work schedule's nuts. See you later! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm
aratuk:

Thanks, Martinibomb! Loved the show :-)
  7:00pm
Martinibomb:

Take care everyone! Cya later Rich
