Good Evening Jesse
I can’t get online to WoofMoo dot .org
Been an issue sporadically the last few days. I’m thinking it’s an apple tech issue. They do some crooked crap to make you upgrade.
I can access with no issues through the app . Go figure.

Harold Bloom died yesterday. I never met him, but am fond of him; he was the super-editor of the Chelsea House Library of Literary Criticism, and I worked there as my first job in New York. That was one of the best jobs I had. Half of my day was spent in Columbia and New York University libraries, and the other half editing literary criticism. If you think that’s incredibly boring, I hear you. I was in heaven.
  3:19am
Dave in St Albans UK:

Got to put my headphones on. My wife is not enjoying this. Yes, it's that good ;-)
  3:21am
groki:

@Scraps: Bloom is dead? Wow. I really did not like how he treated Ricardo Reis poetry (pastiche, uh?) but he was big. I actually feel as if you had a wonderful job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22am

ig666 i'm ashamed to say i am indeed using a macbook. high sierra. i don't use other crapple shit; no itunes.
Avatar 3:29am
Chris in Kuala Lumpur:

@Scraps: Harold Bloom, too? More establishment than Giorno, I suppose, and his take on Adrienne Rich was laughable. Still, that's some negative energy from yesterday for literature.
Avatar 3:34am
Chris in Kuala Lumpur:

coelacanth∅: No shame in using a Macbook, really. Even if you use open-source operating-system software you still probably have to use a laptop made by a hardware manufacturer that isn't necessarily independent. Apple is one of the lesser of the evils.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35am
coelacanth∅:

...i think it's optimum. they do this now & then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36am
coelacanth:

so that only took 12 minutes to post

...(...never heard of John Giorno until 2 days ago)
  3:37am
groki:

This is why I use a laptop from 2003, old hardware never fails me.
Avatar 3:38am
Scraps:

I like that Bloom treated science fiction as just literature; and he was the first serious hoity-toity critic to say John Crowley was great. And he said Iris Murdoch was the greatest English writer of her generation. Etc.

I look at the ones he championed, not the ones that he stupidly denigrated. ;-)
Avatar 3:38am
Chris in Kuala Lumpur:

@Jesse: Just fed my dog a treat. She's still a little weirded out but I think she should be introduced to some Giorno. She's in the cone of shame, which is apropos for the scene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39am
coelacanth∅:

Chris Thanks. but i think microsoft is considerably less evil than apple...just, their operating system kinda sucks!
Avatar 3:39am
Scraps:

And I love James Merrill, who he championed too.
Avatar 3:39am
Chris in Kuala Lumpur:

@groki: Yikes. I couldn't! But I guess I see why you're a Stallman guy. What OS do you use, if you don't mind me asking?
Avatar 3:41am
Chris in Kuala Lumpur:

@Scraps: That's fair. I think a lot of people remember the iffy things Bloom said as opposed to the great and noble things he championed. He could be a bit retrograde, especially when it came to poetry, but in terms of prose he was ahead of his time. RIP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41am
Ignatatus666:

@Coel
I noticed mostly during Wake my browser was not working properly aside from the app
I thought it was a conspiracy of the Wake nerds against me
Avatar 3:43am
Scraps:

Whoa, I don’t mostly used Apple products, except my ipad. But for me, Microsoft is evil, and hate that they take money away from me monthly because they ground all word processors into dust. Grrr, etc
  3:43am
groki:

@Chris, using Puppy Linux. Works like a charm. At least for the things I need a PC for. Not Stallman Approved, tho.
Avatar 3:44am

(Also, I worked there, and know many people who worked there formerly or now, and it’s.... not a good place to work.)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46am

groki i very much appreciate what you're saying. i bought this refurbished macbook to replace my failing macbook. my failing one, a 13" white, i also bought refurbished and it was amazing for a few years then had problems...but it still works. just takes 8-10 minutes to boot and i can't scroll too much or watch videos. c.2008 snow leopard. the best operating system to have ever existed, probably.
this one, i just got a few months ago, is nearly as old but with a vastly inferior operating system: high sierra.
it is shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47am

Those first excerpts tou played
Did he want it recorded like that or were they a remix?

Avatar 3:51am
Jesse Dorris:

He recorded them that way! Master of delay, along with words
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52am
coelacanth∅:

Scraps there's no way microsoft is as unscrupulous as apple. not even a chance. apple's almost as bad as gobble, probably - which makes it considerably worse than satan...if satan existed!

I have to seriously explore John Giorno's work. Where to start? Great selection so far and all new to me too. PS Chat room is like a Techtonic one.

I’m sure many never knew they had it and many may have died from the treatments themselves. It was basically treated horribly. I’ll never forget watching how it ate the life away from my uncle then years later a very close friend. Even then public misconceptions were still like Ebola
