This is one of the few shows on the FMU schedule that reminds me of WWOZ here in my new (since 2017) residence, New Orleans. (WWOZ is celebrating 39 years this week, fwiw...)

I'm A fan of WWOZ as well. There's also a free form listener supported station in Memphis. WEVL.. That's worth a listen.

The blues and Baby Yoda are the only things that are keeping me going this winter.

Jessie Mae was something. She sold me a record at a blues fest one year. She had an armful of records walking through the crowd. She sold them all. of course.

Greatful Dead, Petty -- I always wanted Dylan to tour with Husker Du.
  7:39pm
JakeGould:

You know what other tour sucked in 1987? David Bowie’s “Glass Spider” tour. Holy crap was that forgettable.
  7:41pm
barney:

Only time I saw bob Dylan was in 1989? to see the Pogues open but Shane MacGowan was missing. And GE Smith of the Saturday night live band was playing guitar for Dylan
  7:41pm
JakeGould:

The late 1980s was pretty bad for nostalgia acts.
  7:41pm
lothianman:

honestly I never saw a Dylan show that was worth the time energy and money. Stick to the studio stuff unless you're desperate
  7:43pm
lothianman:

check out "Mayor of McDougal street' for a first hand account of how phony "Bobby" is

Remember when I said I didn't want to hear anyone's opinion about the merits of certain recording artists?

I love Big Joe Turner!

Chop Scott:

I fucking love this show--Cheers Matt!
  7:49pm
Elvis Causticfellow:

Funny, I just finished "Mayor of MacDougal Street" last week and that didn't seem to me at all the gist of Van Ronk's assessment of Dylan.
  7:49pm
spodiodi:

yeah, Jake. didn't know him, but that song cooked. had me singing along
  7:50pm
Tom:

Hey Matt, have you ever heard Richard Johnston
“Foot Hill Stomp”? The album features Jessie Mae Hemphill on the “Chicken and gravy” track.
  7:50pm
spodiodi:

yeah, Chop Scott. cheers Matt
  7:52pm
Elvis Causticfellow:

This has been a near perfect show.
  7:55pm
Elvis Causticfellow:

WFMU needs a 24-hr. Weekly World Blues channel like it has for Give the Drummer Some.
  7:55pm
JakeGould:

@spodiodi: He’s great! He was the first to sing “Shake, Rattle and Roll” and then just did the same song over again with “Flip, Flop and Fly.” And “Well All Right” is basically him redoing “Honey Hush.”
