Avatar 3:07pm Sid:

I can't do sixty no more, because I'm on the far side of 60!
Avatar 3:09pm Mailman Tom:

I just heard that Wes Wilson passed away. He was a famous concert poster artist of the 1960s
  3:10pm happs:

so the board is closed during Glen Jones program?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I see the news about Kobe Bryant. There was a helicopter crash. Stevie Ray Vaughn went out that way, too. RIP www.cnn.com...
Avatar 3:12pm Sid:

Apparently Kobe frequently traveled in his own helicopter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm ParUbi:

Definitely an exemplar of athletic excellence. RIP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Smilty69:

RIP Kobe. 41 years old.
  3:35pm John from Florham park:

@KFHP damn shame fore Kobe
  3:36pm John from Florham park:

@Hopos always been that wAy with Glenn Jones program
  3:36pm John from Florham park:

I mean hoops sorry
  3:36pm John from Florham park:

I mean happs sorry
  3:56pm John from Florham park:

Wonder what would happen if a station did not do their id?
  3:57pm Al on Long Island:

It's the year of the rat, so we get to hear the Rat Boys.
  3:59pm Al on Long Island:

@JfFP: The station could be fined if someone is listening. Although stations frequently violate the FCC rules (particularly with regard to power), and seem to get away with it.
  4:01pm John from Florham park:

@Al have noticed some am stations doing higher power at bight
  4:03pm Al on Long Island:

@JfFP: In some parts of the country where HS basketball is king, during games on Fri. nights.
Avatar 4:05pm Sid:

FCC is pretty lax with basic enforcement these days. Bill was havin' fun with the possibility. Back in the day (60s-70s) they were looking for lapses in 'responsibility.'
  4:06pm Al on Long Island:

Radio waves in the spectrum used by AM radio bounce off the ionosphere at night, so you will hear stations from farther away at night, when compared with during the day.
  4:08pm John from Florham park:

@Ak I can believe it
@Sid these days they look and see if people talk about sex
Avatar 4:08pm Mailman Tom:

I listened to a Chicago AM station on my radio one night, and I live in Connecticut!
Avatar 4:09pm Sid:

It's what they get complaints about. The complainers aren't looking at FCC rules. Just listening for double entendre!
  4:11pm John from Florham park:

@Maiman Tom do that sometimes when I sit outside during the summer listen to distance am stations
  4:11pm Al on Long Island:

Too bad the FCC can't shut down stations due to lousy programming. If they could, WFMU would be one of the very few stations left.
Avatar 4:12pm Sid:

The big 50 kilowatt AMs travel at night. Low-band 5kW and up too. You can hear WLS from Chicago up and down the east coast. nf8m.com...
  4:13pm Al on Long Island:

"Love of the Loved" was written by Lennon and McCartney (mainly by Paul).
  4:13pm John from Florham park:

And to take this one step further with the crap that has happened to the station the past two Friday’s wonder if Iran or rush ha are screwing around with this station or if you want to be really paranoid our own government
  4:15pm John from Florham park:

@Al that would mean all the iHeartRadio radio stations:)
  4:16pm Al on Long Island:

I don't heart iHeartRadio
Avatar 4:18pm Sid:

Our gov't is making Russia look like pikers.
  4:18pm John from Florham park:

@Sid when I used to live in south Florida I would get the distance am stations at night until the mid 90s when all I could get was electrical interference
Avatar 4:19pm Sid:

Yeah, John, you have to go outside away from buildings to get good AM reception now.
  4:20pm John from Florham park:

@sid even then you still get a lot of interference
  4:23pm Listener Robert:

Thanks, Sid, for the link to the graphic data that ham has compiled.
4:25pm Dave In St Albans UK:

Too much electronic mush from PC's to enjoy distant am stations in Europe at night. I use remote SDR's to tune in these days. The one at Utrecht Uni is good. Just access it via a browser! We used to have some Megawatt stations but they are closing down as am usage declines. My receivers are definitely neglected these days.
  4:27pm John from Florham park/NM:

@dave from St. Albans noticed that the bbc is going alll FM now
4:30pm Dave In St Albans UK:

Yep. They are slowly removing the am outlets especially for local stations. The good old am band is a shadow of its hey day. In the 70's I needed a highly selective radio to avoid the heterodyned from the stations battling it out each night in Europe. Powerful transmitters everywhere.
  4:32pm John from Florham park/NM:

@Fave from St. Albans uk what happens if the internet goes down
  4:32pm Al on Long Island:

I used to listen to the BBC World Service on shortwave radio. It was actually coming from Sackville, Canada. Everything is on the internet now.
  4:33pm John from Florham park/NM:

@Al would listen to that too along with the CBC
  4:35pm Al on Long Island:

CBC from Toronto and Montreal was easy to get on an ordinary AM radio.
4:36pm Dave In St Albans UK:

As much as I love radio "over the air" I do prefer the superb non fading/crackly version over the internet. WFMU 24 hours a day in stereo via my mobile makes enjoying " listening" so easy.
4:37pm Dave In St Albans UK:

CBC used to boom into the UK. Great station.
4:39pm Dave In St Albans UK:

WNYW was always a pleasant listen on shortwave. Radio New York Worldwide?
  4:39pm John from Florham park/NM:

@Al I have been listening more to the BBC and the CBC because they do talk about other stuff besides you know who, gave up on cable news because of that
  4:40pm John from Florham park/NM:

Dave in St. Albans uk yeah I find it so much more easy too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hello, Bill and all. I've been listening and loving the tunes. I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday afternoon. Rock N Roll!!!
4:43pm Dave In St Albans UK:

Great show Bill. Thanks.
  4:44pm Al on Long Island:

According to Wikipedia, the CBC Sackville transmitter was shut down in 2012 and demolished in 2014. While it was active, it broadcast BBC World Service, Deutsche Welle, and other programs in addition to the CBC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hola John, Dave, Rob, Sid, Al, Par, Smilty, Mailman y happs. What is the maximum number of listeners to list individually? I suppose it depends on the time you have and the gumption. Anyhow...hello.
  4:46pm John from Florham park/NM:

@Al there really is nothing on shortwave anymore besides crockpots
  4:47pm John from Florham park:

@Pumpy don’t really know
  4:47pm Al on Long Island:

My old Radio Shack SW radio sits in a closet with its batteries removed. :-(
4:57pm Dave In St Albans UK:

My receiver'd collect dust and without a decent antenna are unlikely to bring in the goodies. Many broadcasters provide a decent quality stream so the choice is obvious these days. When the internet breaks we are stuffed.
  4:58pm Al on Long Island:

Francoise Hardy was married to Jacques Dutronc, who made some cool French garage rock in the '60s.
  9:48pm John from CDA:

Does Spanking Charlene sound like they need somebody to love.
  9:49pm John from CDA:

Does Spanking Charlene sound like they need somebody to love?
  1:44am John from CDA:

The lead singer of the Schizophonics sounds like he listens to the Sonics.
  1:45am John from CDA:

Ronnie Hawkins and The Band.
