My home office is in storage. I keep on getting one doc after another from an official state employer. This has been really inefficient, as I allowed many of my software licenses lapse, so I can't e-sig every doc, and must go the UPS store, print it, sign it, scan it, then email it back. I'm on the 7th doc. (Hopefully this becomes actual employment).

Put on my what I thought what were my laptop earbud, and was wondering why I couldn't hear anything. Turns out I had my phone earbuds in.....

Forty-two years and counting ... amazing. voyager.jpl.nasa.gov... How they can pick up a signal from that distance is remarkable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
mariano:

Hey ngh, could you add your signature if you had an electronic version of it (png, svg, etc)? That's what I do mostly, saves having to print and scan.
Avatar 6:36pm
northguineahills:

@mariano, it worked for the pdfs, which allowed my e-sig. But the word doc wanted a department password, which the director didn't have. I converted to a pdf, but the line no longer recognized it need an e-sig. So, I put in an e-sig line, but it looked really wonky no matter what I did. (I also did other conversions to no avail).

the stuff you pull off on this show never stops amazing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
mariano:

Yeah, ngh, you have to have the full version of Acrobat to insert images. What I did was make a scan of my sig, then in Illustrator I converted it to a vector file, saved out as eps as well as png. With that, you can add it as an image to a Word doc. If you don't have Illustrator, I think there are online services that will vectorize images for free.

If they're using Docusign, all you need is a running OS and a browser. Set up your signature one time, or use the signature font they provide as a default.

That's my standard for pushing out contracts.

Nobody has scanners or printers any more. 2 or 3 times per year I do make use of the office printer, but that's more of a convenience.

Time to listen to Threnody for Hiroshima.

I tried to get my office paperless 20 years ago. There is still too much past inertia, that everyone (especially gov't) needs hardcopies. Annoying AF.
