Nice track. It isn’t Bob Dylan, but then what is?

weird...on Evan's show (explorers room) he played "wash mama wash" by Dr, John and a track by R.L. Hubbard; so both scientology and the idea of "bustin' some suds" were discussed on the comments board.

Nick Name:

thankyou spodiodi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am
coelacanth∅:

for sure spodi. his voice is soothing too!
...the only problem is that his show must be the beginning of his day, whereas it's the end of mine. he usually starts fairly mellow, veers into deep space then in the last hour gets all crazy! exactly the opposite of what i'd do with a 3-6 slot.
back in the day though i'd nearly fall asleep for the majority of his show then turn it off in time and crash.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am
coelacanth∅:

Nick -wishing well-wishes right back at Stan!
Avatar 12:29am

TomDash:

Hey there Nick Name - enjoying the late night expansions as I decompress before bed...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am
mariano:

I used to love when Liz Berg had a 9-12 show and the first hour would be super-mellow, abstract, and ambient. Great way to start the day. Then she'd go into really amazing guitar-band stuff then of course the robot music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am
coelacanth∅:

spodi my biggest problem was for several years mid-late 90s. no internet, no archives. i was so Thankful when thursday rolled around because i knew i'd have a better than usual chance of getting some sleep, thanks to Stan.
i forget who else was on in the middle of the night then...some other good ones for sure -maybe Daniel Blumin?
but Stan stands out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am

a bowl of cookies? special cookies?
  12:55am
spodiodi:

coelacanth∅, that's cool you were able to listen then. i think i ran into wfmu in 99... but 2013 stands out for me for sleeping w headphones in bed. was crushed when i had to dump some favorite downloaded saves on my nuissancePhone recently. still put the phone under the pillow sometimes these days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am
coelacanth∅:

spodi i might be mistaken, but regarding the other overnight show hosts in the late 90s i think it might've been Bryce &/or Rich Hazelton &/or Dan Bodah & (def) Cozmic Cowboy & (def) Bethany ("stochastic hit parade" -not "A440". with 3 hours she explored a lot and her show included far more than classical music. i used to call her at the station) ...Tamar? &/or Clay (the other Clay)...Pat Duncan was at midnight, before Stan. i remember that; and the transition wasn't as difficult as one might imagine!
...anyway point is: Fucking Stellar overnight line-up! (even if i'm mistaken about a couple)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am

very cool, coelacanth∅ -- i didn't know some of those DJs were around back then. i began listening during the day at work, with Diane's Kamikaze Fun Machine, and Joe Belock having been a couple of my first favorites at the time. stellar for sure

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am
coelacanth∅:

haha i might be mixing shit up, as far as what nights and what years ...i still had sleep problems into the 00s.
...Diane was on at night in the 90s, and goes back long before that... and by 2000, at least, Fabio, gateway to joy and inner ear detour
...and our illustrious Scott Williams! (if i recall correctly)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am

@coel, I was late-nite from '97-'99 or '00, others at that hour in those days: yep, Bryce, Belock, Joe Gaer, Bill Zebub, Maryann, Eva, ummm.... there's a lot I'm missing. I recall Donna B being afternoon in those days, Diane too? Fabio's been on Thursday forever, he was on Sunday nights before that. Stan and Rich have likewise held down their general area forever
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am
Scott Williams:

Bethany, Suisman, Bodah, Cosmic Cowboy - I think of them as the "Class of '43 (Monty)" - pretty sure they all started once we'd moved here. Also Mosurock, Hatch, and of course Mike Lupica!
Avatar 1:38am
spodiodi:

Irwin and Fabio were some others of mine that followed after those two. i think Diane was the first interaction i had with a person at/through the station, via email. i haven't done as much night time listening regularly, but have enjoyed most of those you listed here and there a good bit, if not all at night/then (present company included -- thank you gain, Nick, and Scott!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am
coelacanth∅:

wow, i don't want to say which but i don't at all remember 2 of those names.

Diane had a weekend evening at some point, but i could be way off as far as what years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am
coelacanth∅:

it's much easier to know the schedule(s) now than then. i got the lcd for a few years but never memorized it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am
Scott Williams:

More than once, I've found myself driving a friend to the airport while Stan is on, and it's just perfect. Stan has a very definite arc not just in the progression of his show, but also on his mic breaks - they are utterly engrossing.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50am
coelacanth∅:

...or did he move around a little too at some point
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am

I'm sure Ol' Pal Irwin moved around a bit back when, but he's been somewhere between Ken and SSD as long as I can remember - sometimes with Michelle Boule (RIP), sometimes followed by Bob Brainen

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06am

Michelle was Incorrect Music, yes. Terre T I think goes back to early 90s. She was already a star when I got here, in 96. Did she follow, or precede Jeff Cobb?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08am

Jim Price, way back to mid-70s. Wm Berger, I think early 80s.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am

Maria Levitsky was my 1st favorite DJ! 1995: driving to a class on Friday afternoons, listening to her show and thinking how cool she was. Called herself a dilettante on-air! I miss Maria so much, too rarely does she visit the area now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am
coelacanth∅:

cool. i listened to her pretty regularly, got her "you rang" premium and jacked her bed loop for a sound collage!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21am
Scott Williams:

Yeah, Jones doesn't interview people, he finds people he has a genuine interest in and has a conversation with them, with tape rolling. Sometimes they're dicks (RAY MANZAREK), but usually they're really cool, because... well, because JONESY!
