Vildá: Two Nordic Traditions Unite: Sámi Joik and Finnish Accordion Music! Recorded at WOMEX

Listen to this show: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

The young duo Vildá brings together two great Nordic traditions: Vocal yoik of indigenous Sámi people and accordion music of Finland. Vildá wowed the cognoscenti at the opening concert of last October's WOMEX world music expo in Tampere, Finland with their vibrant blends of tradition and experimentation. Their debut album Wildprint (Bafe's Factory) has gotten rave reviews too. Meet Vildá in an interview and EBU radio studio performance recorded live at WOMEX!

Like and follow Vildá at https://www.facebook.com/vildaduo/.

Check out Vildá's album Wildprint and more on Finland's Bafe's Factory label at http://bafesfactory.fi.

Massive thanks to our board ops Ruth Hayduk and Olivia Bradley-Skill, to Albert Hosp of Direct Austria who hosted Vilda's live set in the WOMEX EBU radio studio, and to the WOMEX Radio Studio team who made this possible: Sigtor Kjetså and Tore Steen from NRK (Norway), Matti Littunen from YLE (Finland) and Janko Sadnik from WDR (Germany).
