Howdy all. Or should I say HEY!
  6:12pm
?:

Hay.com sells furniture? See that should have been a rule at the beginning of the internet. Your name should have to be what you actually do. So Amazon, which does nothing to help the rainforest, would be forced to be called books.com or lotsofcrap.com or something.

You can already block people or label them spam. I’d be more worried that I’d say no to someone by mistake and then they’d be trying to reach me about something important and not know I wasn’t getting the messages.
  6:19pm
David in London:

“Hi, I’m just reaching out to you to....hey...what....hello...hello...?”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm
coelacanth∅:

no you will hear from them forever because they email you from a different source every time.
(ie solicitations for money for organisations or solicitations for life insurance...)

Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
Bas NL:

Good initiative.. but when will Google take over Hey.com?
  6:28pm
ignatatus666:

@Sam
It’s not that easy
Companies have multiple IP addresses and will send you spam via several addresses. Many of them get through the spam filter and then you have to click a link to their website for you to unsubscribe from something you never subscribed to,
Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:29pm
Webhamster Henry:

If you don't load images, you don't get the call back through that tracking pixel. Most of the time, you don't need the images anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm
Mark Hurst:

@Bas I'm pretty sure that Jason and his cofounder would never sell to Google for any price. Similar to what Gabriel Weinberg told me in his first interview on Techtonic (linked at left)

There's also an ever-growing parade of cancelled Google products and ideas, basically because some other internal group made a competeing product, or it just didn't get the traction needed to satisfy the (evil) bosses.

@Peter A normal email sent between any user and a gmail user will be visible by Google. I believe their terms of service grant them the ability to scan the messages. So they shouldn't have your entire collection of email, but may be able to track some information about your email as the sender. Also, Jason Fried mentioned that Hey will block trackers, meaning Google and other companies will gain less or no information when you open emails containing trackers.
