Hiya BC! Hey everyone! Digging the sounds :-)
Avatar 12:11pm
Otis:

Most all are open here in Montreal... the couple I frequent deliver locally and had 2 shops do front door deliveries recently. In no rush to go in-store and browse but can still support local brick-n-morts.
Avatar 12:12pm
BC Sterrett:

record shops and thrift stores are open here, but I've only gone to pick up protective sleeves a couple times. Still to scared to thumb through records and CDs in shops while stats are spiking.

The Shorty Rogers, I mean. I have the Pérez Prado. For those of you keeping score.
Avatar 12:28pm

I'm definitely keeping score of your finds Mr. Fab.

ionce bought a Rod McKuen album for the sole reason that it had SO MANY reduced price tags on it
Avatar 12:30pm
BC Sterrett:

oops, bumped the needle there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
solo mon:

It’s LIVE radio! Yay!
Avatar 12:31pm
Otis:

Boogie Bumpin the Needle... live! Nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

yeah, right on! not enough needle bumping these days
Avatar 12:32pm
BC Sterrett:

Ha ha Spicy! Someone really needs to collect the worst of Rod McKuen. I've always thought about it, but the thought of how painful it would be wallow in the mire seems so painful.
Avatar 12:32pm
Mr Fab:

I did finally buy stuff at a thrift store yesterday, I did I did I did! Felt so nice. Xavier Cugat CD, and a Tito Puente CD, Speaking of Latin grooviness. And a guy who does Italian covers of songs like “these boots are made for walking.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
solo mon:

It’s how incredibly strange music was discovered, by a needle bump. Probably.
Avatar 12:34pm
Otis:

I've been going through and listening to every album here since last year, but super heavy since February. Helps to curb the urge to get out into the shops, but looking forward to soon in time.
Avatar 12:34pm
BC Sterrett:

This Prado record really is amazing if you sit down with it.
Avatar 12:35pm
Otis:

BC - Yes.... this suite along with "Exotic Suite of the Americas" are super long-playing favs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
solo mon:

My fav record store Clinton Street is open but I haven’t braved it yet. They only let 2 people in at a time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

BC Sterrett: 'tis painful, indeed. Jim Morton wrote an inspiring article about McKuen in his legendary zine, "Pop Void" (there's an obscure collectible for you!)
Avatar 12:36pm
BC Sterrett:

6 people allowed in the shop here.
Avatar 12:36pm
Otis:

Most shops do local delivery with folks from the shop running about town, I know of 3 shops here that do it. Great way to support but not venture in quite yet. And with local in-shop staff running about town no holding up the postal folks.
Avatar 12:37pm
Otis:

...ah but said shops need to have a catalog online and I do know it takes away from the actual thumbing through crates. Ah, all in time.
Avatar 12:38pm
BC Sterrett:

Wow, doorstep records from the shops. Hmmmm,...
Avatar 12:38pm
Otis:

For anyone in Montreal... Aux 33 Tours, La Rama, and Death of Vinyl will do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

speaking of postal, i just obtained a fresh batch of slightly inappropriate postcards and i will send you one if you request via my profile contact!
Avatar 12:39pm
Ursula1000:

no one grunts like Perez!
Avatar 12:40pm
BC Sterrett:

or Yma!
Avatar 12:40pm
Otis:

Or Bas!
Avatar 12:40pm
BC Sterrett:

or .. umm..
Avatar 12:41pm
Mr Fab:

Record store deliveries sound like a cool idea, but how would I know what to buy? They need like a drone showing the bins, and someone flipping thru 'em, and then you can say, "Stop, lemme look at that one!"
Avatar 12:41pm
Otis:

I would like to see a mashup of uggggs featuring Prado, Sumac, Shiva and James Brown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

oooh, personal drone shoppers
Avatar 12:42pm
Otis:

Fab - Shops with full online catalogs, for example: aux33tours.com
Avatar 12:42pm
BC Sterrett:

I would love that Otis!
Avatar 12:43pm
BC Sterrett:

I'd want my drone to have a rubber hand with moving fingers to thumb through the crates.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

and you can flip your own records for the sensual experience
Avatar 12:44pm
BC Sterrett:

I'll have the store keeper sanitize my robotic rubber hand.
Avatar 12:44pm
BC Sterrett:

Ha ha Granny
Avatar 12:44pm
Otis:

Or also, local Discogs sellers, like here... some do local deliveries. Ha, I know too many sellers for my own good. Trying to listen to what is here and not order much.
Avatar 12:44pm
BC Sterrett:

Avatar 12:45pm
Sonderangebot:

Oh Granny I read the magic word! Well... two of them!
Avatar 12:46pm
Sonderangebot:

Local delivery guys in Montreal also delivery records with Prado-style UUUGGG!! That's how special they are.
Avatar 12:47pm
Otis:

It's so hot here. I am so hot, but not in that way... heatwave in Montreal in an old apartment with no AC. I say this, as this hour is perfect for a hot home. Spicy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I located my Rod McK album: "Pastures Green," reduced from $4.98 to $3.98 to $2.98 to $1.98. And that's when i bought it (B.A.R.T. on Polk St, circa 1990)
Avatar 12:47pm
Otis:

... and my fav Yma album Mambo. Second would be Miracles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Ah, Taki Raki was Ton Rückerts signature tune for his exotica ringitem on my show in 2006/2007 :-)
Avatar 12:48pm
Otis:

I love that Granny, I would cracked up and bought it too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm

I LOVe miracles!!!
Avatar 12:48pm
Otis:

Myron doing Quiet Village? I can retire from collecting now. Love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

This is quite a village
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Jan Turkenburg:

actually I should say "our show" because Vreemde Geluiden was a joint effort that first season
Avatar 12:49pm
BC Sterrett:

ha ha. I'll fix it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
solo mon:

Ymas voice was made for acid rock ( or at least the les Baxter version of acid rock )
Avatar 12:50pm
Mr Fab:

I love every album in Yma's sadly slim catalog, but "Mambo" is perfection. I think I probably just dumped the whole dang deal into the Sheena stream.
Avatar 12:50pm
Ursula1000:

when Yma sings, the clouds part
Avatar 12:51pm
Otis:

Do it Fab, all hits on Mambo.
Avatar 12:51pm

Avatar 12:51pm
Otis:

I want this album. Hello never ending Discogs want list. Ha!
Avatar 12:51pm

Not quite as nutty as Floren's "Disco Polka" album, but "Quiet Village," eh? Aloha, Myron.

I'm practicing my accordion mom! I swear!
Avatar 12:55pm

BC - You practice with this album, don'cha?
Avatar 12:57pm

Myron's got a squeeze box he wears on his chest/and when he polkas all night the neighbors get no rest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm

“Myron what are you doing? It got awfully quiet up there!”
“Nuttin, mother!”
Avatar 12:57pm

I actually haven't played accordion in years. I retired from doing shows. I last played on my wife's Monsteria album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm

i still have these nuts here and no recipe
Avatar 12:58pm
