I had a vintage 60s Kay bass (the Japanese cheapo not the stand up) ripped off from my Brooklyn apt years ago. Seen one just like it (?) on ebay for over a thou which is of course too much but that's the 60s geetar market for ya. Anyway the cops told me the thief was someone who knew me since the apartment was not totally wrecked. I think it was a former super who had gotten into a serious relationship with drugs. Andres: yeah, it can be a touchy subject in Spain, since Español/Spanish as a descriptor could be used for any language spoken there. In Catalonia or Basque country it can be taken as rude or at least ignorant to ask if someone speak Spanish (meaning Castilian). There are several minor regional languages too like Galician, Aragonese, Asturian, etc.

Does Dan Penn know the lawyer for Sam Cooke's estate wants a word with him?

I had to check real quick to make sure this wasn't Sam Cooke at his slightly gravelly.

I have a couple CDs of early Dan Penn stuff, which I think were meant as song demos, but they're well produced. Some might have been recorded with the intention of having another singer replace the vocal for release? But I think he just had the studio available, and he used it.

Honestly, "Nobody's Fool" is the No. 1 hit that should have been for Dan Penn. An unheralded classic.
