Yes. WFMU is owned and operated by Auricle Communications which is a tax exempt organization recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service. Any donation made to WFMU is tax deductible, less the amount of any goodies you receive in exchange for your pledge. The IRS does not require a receipt except for donations of $250 or more, in which case WFMU will mail you a receipt next January, or earlier if you request it.
What are the different pledge levels?
A Basic Pledge is any pledge from $15 to $364 and is used for WFMU’s basic operations – keeping the lights and the transmitter on, for example.
A Mouse of Today Pledge is any pledge $365 or higher. These pledges are used to support WFMU’s online presence: our streams, archives, and podcasts, and mobile apps.
A Y3K is any pledge of $1000 or higher. These pledges are invested in long-term, station-wide infrastructure projects: transmitter repairs, maintenance and technical upgrades to our equipment and facilities, and paying down the mortgage on our building.
How do I credit my pledge to my favorite show(s)?
1. Visit http://wfmu.org/pledge and enter your pledge amount
2. Select a show from our pledge page drop-down menu, which is cleverly labeled “Credit Pledge To”
3. *** Press the + button labeled “Click to add show” ***
4. Repeat 1 & 2 to add more shows
A Swag for Life pledge is a monthly pledge of $10/mo or more that automatically renews each year, and it is the single best way you can help WFMU. You can use your credit card to set up your monthly plan, and not only will we send you glorious swag each and every year, but you’ll also receive special, exclusive swag items only available to Swag for Life members.
How do I become a Swag For Life member?
Visit our pledge page and make a monthly pledge of $10/mo or more.
Already a Swag for Life member?
Great! We love you! We’ll be sending you a special e-mail before the Marathon each year (Feb/Mar) when it’s time to choose your swag and credit your pledge to your favorite shows, so be sure to keep your eye on your inbox. It is not necessary to resubmit your payment info each year (that might result in you being double-charged).
What if I’m a Swag for Life member but want to make a pledge in October?
Amazing! But please note that your pledge this October will be counted in addition to your existing Swag for Life pledge (not as a part of it).

How the heck does the Insta-Pledge thing work?
When you make an online pledge to WFMU, you will immediately receive an acknowledgement via e-mail.
WFMU uses a secure webserver, so you can pledge with a credit card right from the pledge form just as you would to buy stuff elsewhere on the Internet.
If you paid your online pledge with a credit card, that’s all you need to do, but if you did not submit payment, no problem! We will then e-mail you a secure link to pay your pledge online a few days later.
If you would like to pay your pledge via PayPal, then the pledge receipt you see after submitting your pledge will direct you to a PayPal page on which you can make your payment to WFMU (the PayPal Credit service is NOT recommended).
You can pay your pledge by check or money order made out to “WFMU,” or by credit card or PayPal.
We prefer checks or credit card payment. WFMU accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. Our website is secure, so you can safely input your credit card information onto our pledge page.
We also offer PayPal as a payment option for listeners who have a PayPal account. If you choose the PayPal option, then after you submit your pledge, visit http://paypal.com and send your payment to donate@wfmu.org. The PayPal Credit service is not recommended.
WFMU encourages listeners to join our Swag for Life program, which is a monthly credit card or PayPal pledge of $10/month or more that automatically renews each year. We send out special swag to all Swag for Life members every year.
What if I don’t pay right away?
We will e-mail you a link to a secure payment page during or just after the Marathon. If you are unable to pay or if we don’t hear from you, we will send you a follow-up payment form in the mail, and we will hold on to any prizes you may have won for 10 months. You can pay in full by check or credit card. If you still cannot pay, you can request that we charge your credit card at any later date which you specify.
How does WFMU protect my credit card and personal information?
WFMU takes web security very seriously. Our pledge site is secure and your contact information is only accessible to our site administrators. When you pay via credit card on our site, your card number is encrypted and sent directly to our card processor, Stripe. We do not store any listener credit card numbers on WFMU’s servers and card numbers are not accessible by WFMU staff.
