Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

WFMU's Give the Drummer Radio and Hinky Dinky Time denounce explicit and implicit racism. We condemn the culture of white supremacy, which enables the brutalization of black people and other communities of color. We support Black Lives Matter and the movement it stands for. |

Left field question, prompted by 5 Royales sound, and now Mills boys (and, speaking of cutting-pasting):
Does anyone know what group's vocals are being edited/manipulated in Bathtime in Clerkenwell by The Real Tuesday Weld? Sounds like early Mills Brothers, but heard something else recently that could be a candidate. Sure don't think the vocals were freshly created.

In 1959, Ace Records removed Smith's vocal track from the original recording of his song "Sea Cruise" and replaced it with a vocal track by singer Frankie Ford.[3] The song was Ford's first hit, selling over a million copies. Ace's decision to release the song with the Ford vocal and to not release Smith's original version meant that Smith was unable to fully benefit from his own work, and the move by Ace is considered by music historians to be an example of racial injustice in the 1950s pop-music industry. (Smith's original version of the song was eventually released.)
