Therese: I'm afraid I'm not the connoisseur I pretend to be, though the old-school choices would be Randazzo's, Gambino's (get a box of their petits fours too, or splurge and get a doberge cake), and Haydel's. Don't know the new kids on the block very well, but I reckon they'll be good because people are always pushing the envelope. I first heard Portuguese spoken when I was an exchange student in Moscow. I assumed it was Polish, or some other Slavic language I didn't undestand. I was surprised that it was Portuguese. I'd seen Portuguese in writing, and could basically understand it, having already studies Spanish and French.
