Artist | Track | Album | Label | Comments | Images | Approx. start time |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Merrill Womach | Happy Again | Happy Again ("He Restoreth My Soul" Soundtrack) | (Featured album cover on the top of pg. 39.) Why not play his theme song again from the film, I’ve already played what I feel are the two other good tracks from this soundtrack last episode. - Your D.J. | 0:00:00 (Pop-up) | ||
Joe Lee Kirkpatrick | End of Side 1 | Turning Point Testimony of Joe Lee Kirkpatrick Former Heroin Addict | (“Great confessional preacher records include one by Joe Lee Kirkpatrick: the front shows his prison mug shot,….” - Jello) Continued from last week - Your DJ | 0:02:17 (Pop-up) | ||
Gloria Kirkpatrick | Miss Heroin | Turning Point Testimony of Joe Lee Kirkpatrick Former Heroin Addict | (“…but the back shows him recovered, with his beehived, cat-eyeglasses wife who in a sharp bayou twang reads a poem written by an actual heroin addict: “Miss Heroin”…” - Jello) | 0:07:32 (Pop-up) | ||
Joe Lee Kirkpatrick | Side 2 | Turning Point Testimony of Joe Lee Kirkpatrick Former Heroin Addict | 0:11:26 (Pop-up) | |||
Lost Weekend Records | Side 1 | Million Dollar Monkey On My Back | 21:23 | (“Million Dollar Monkey On My Back is a wild mumbling black preacher record…” - Jello) | 0:28:56 (Pop-up) | |
(Bonus Track) Dexter Gardner | Side 1 | Last Testamony Of A Teenage Dope Addict | 6:33 | A disturbing local recording. My friend Steve Anderson found his yearbook photos. The first time you see Dexter, he looks like a happy smiling kid with his whole life ahead of him. Then, as the years pass after taking drugs the smile begins to fade to a more distant and despondent look. There is a reason I've never played this at record gatherings, but if I don't play it during this show, I don't know when I would. So sad. | 0:50:47 (Pop-up) | |
Craid Dexter Gardner. Yearbook photos found by Steve Anderson. This one is from 1966. | 0:51:56 (Pop-up) | |||||
1967. If you can't figure it out, this is his suicide letter recording. He killed (shot) himself in a car off the side of the road near Lambs Canyon I believe. ...right after making this recording. | 0:54:06 (Pop-up) | |||||
1968 | 0:55:31 (Pop-up) | |||||
(Bonus Track) Dexter Gardner | Side 2 | Last Testamony Of A Teenage Dope Addict | 6:41 | My friend Steve Anderson and I searched several cemeteries around SLC and finally found Dexter's grave. Here is my photo I took of it. February 14th (Valentine's Day) marks the anniversary of his death. - Your DJ | 0:57:26 (Pop-up) | |
Lost Weekend Records | Side 2 | Million Dollar Monkey On My Back | 21:35 | 1:04:18 (Pop-up) | ||
The Sounds Of Synanon / The Synanon Choir | Arise, Shine | The Prince Of Peace: A Rock-Jazz Cantata | 4:57 | (“Epic Records (of all people) released a “rock-jazz cantata” by the Synanon Choir. Synanon was a self-help group for alcoholics and drug addicts that crossed the line and became a full-fledged cult. Some predicted they’d be the first to follow the path of Jim Jones.” - Jello) | 1:26:07 (Pop-up) | |
The Sounds Of Synanon / The Synanon Choir | Quiet Sky | Sounds of Synanon | 3:40 | (“They fell apart around the time their leader, Charles Dederich, fell off the wagon and some of them were busted for the attempted murder of a Marin County D.A. — by sticking a rattlesnake in his mailbox!” - Jello) This one reminds me a bit of exotica. - Your D.J. | 1:31:10 (Pop-up) | |
Neil Hefti | Zankie (Main Title) | Synanon - Original Sound Track Recording Of Music From The Motion Picture | 2:21 (1hr 30 up to this point) | (Earlier, there was a movie about Synanon; the soundtrack LP cover shows Chuck Connors shooting up!” - Jello) | 1:34:45 (Pop-up) | |
Willard Cantelon | Side 2 | LSD: Battle For The Mind | 18:30 (1hr 53 thus far) | (Featured album cover at the top of page 40.) | 1:37:05 (Pop-up) | |
(Bonus Track) Harry Snyder | The Needle | 45 | 1:56:01 (Pop-up) | |||
(Bonus Track) Bud Freeman | Because of L S D | 45 | 1:58:41 (Pop-up) | |||
