Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from January 29, 2021 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Once upon a time Amoeba, by which I mean the Berkeley store, was top-notch. But over the years they down-sized, brought the classical stock downstairs to the main floor, consolidated inventory, and ultimately cut off about 1/3 to 1/2 the footprint for a pot dispensary. (Jesus, people, priorities!) I moved from LA in 2001. One year later Amoeba opened its now shuttered Hollywood store, which was much larger than either the SF or Berkeley stores. I never visited. Here in Berkeley another store just a block from Amoeba, Rasputin's, did a good job, too.
